Phillip Schofield's replacement for We Buy Any Car adverts has been announced following the news that the This Morning presenter would be stepping away from the lucrative role. Last week, it was revealed that Phillip would no longer be the face of the car trading company after first appearing in the adverts almost five years ago.
Rumours about the departure were sparked after people noticed the firm had removed Phillip’s photos from their website just days after being accused of “skipping” the queue at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September. But We Buy Any Car has maintained that the decision was made prior to the viral story.
Now, the company has revealed that TikTok star Mufasa will be taking over. Mufasa, whose real name is Jeff Obeng, is well-known and well-liked on the platform and boasts an impressive 892,000 followers since joining the social media site in 2019.The TikTok dancer was photographed filming scenes for the company on Wednesday, with the US-based influencer clad in colourful clothes.
Fans of Mufasa will recognise the outfit from his TikTok. In photos taken from the set, Mufasa looks to be dancing in the forecourt of a car dealership.
While We Buy Any Car insisted that the decision had nothing to do with “Queue-gate”, a source spoke about the moment with The Sun.They said: "Mufasa is just what the brand needs to inject some energy into the adverts after the backlash following 'queue-gate'."
