A salad bar has opened in South Street, Perth that hopes to give a crunch to lunch and even promises to deliver healthy food and drinks direct to customers.
Origin serves fresh salads, squeezed apple and orange juice, smoothies, homemade iced-tea and much more.
This new addition to Perth, located at 55 South Street, has been set up by Ethan March.
With his girlfriend’s help, Ethan hopes he can make the small shop unit (next to the Giraffe Cafe) pay.
He figures his offer of free delivery around Perth will encourage many to go for a healthy choice.
And Ethan thinks ‘real’ soup will be a popular choice now the season is changing. He is trialling soup recipes to add alongside a wide choice of salad items.
Ethan said: “We hoped to open on July 1 but there were some setbacks.
“Then the weather changed and we started to think with the shift in the season, Perth people would appreciate some great soup.
“Because it is a class 1 shop unit, we can’t offer warm food, but with the salad we have tried to go for really fresh and a wide choice of combinations.”
Ethan (36) is from Poland and he has added in some classic combinations he knows from back home.
He explained to the PA: “We have a Snowball salad, that’s sour cream, spring onion and traditional Polish curd cheese. I hope Scottish people will give that a try along with more familiar items like sweetcorn, sliced tomato and tuna.
“We are also attempting to cut down on single-use plastic waste. We give customers wooden forks and reusable straws. With no sitting in we hope to have minimal food waste.”
Orders can be made by calling 01738 321677.
Origin’s opening times are 12pm-8pm on Monday, Tuesday,Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the salad bar closed on Wednesdays.
