Having first appeared on our screens back in 1983, Trudie Goodwin became a familiar face to viewers up and down the country as she starred in The Bill. Taking the role of Sergeant June Ackland, 71 year old Trudie appeared in the police drama for over three decades and was the show’s longest-running character before she stepped back from the programme in 2007. Speaking to the Mirror in 2005 ahead of her exit, the actress explained that despite her decision to leave the show, she’d had a “brilliant” time on The Bill.
