In a recent interview with, James’ husband, Sebastian Bowen, speaks about the Duke of Cambridge's visit to their home ahead of the journalist’s death in June.  Bowen shares that the royal came to their house and joined the family for champagne and to grant James damehood.

On Tuesday the tragic news that Dame Deborah James had passed away following a heroic battle with bowel cancer was announced.The inspirational fundraiser passed away at the age of 40 after devastatingly announcing on 9 May that she had moved to end-of-life care. She explained that despite all of her treatments, her body just wasn’t “playing ball”, and that she was receiving hospice care at her parents' house.The broadcaster and journalist was survived by her husband Sebastian Bowen and their two children Hugo, 14 and 12 year old Eloise.

Speaking from home on the show, which also saw Sally Nugent breaking down in tears the day before over the sad news, Deborah explained that she was certain her children Hugo, 14, and Eloise, 12, would be ok with her husband and their father Sebastian Bowen.

After heartbreakingly revealing that she has moved to hospice at home care after her “body isn’t playing ball” in her fight with stage four bowel cancer, Deborah James has admitted she is “scared” and said: “I do not want to die”. Deborah, 40, who is mother to two children, Hugo, 14, and Eloise, 12, with her husband, Sebastian Bowen, also revealed that she has made ‘memory boxes’ for her kids.
