Does Disney want Johnny Depp back for more Pirates of the Caribbean movies — and is he the one saying NO???
Johnny Depp may once again take on the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean film, an insider close to the movie has suggested. The actor played the lead role in all five of the movies in the franchise, which kicked off in 2003 with The Curse Of The Black Pearl. However, following the last movie — 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales — Depp allegedly parted ways with Disney, and would no longer be taking on the character for any further projects. This split came in light of the recent trials between the actor and ex-wife Amber Heard, who claimed that the Hollywood A-lister had physically and emotionally abused her.The conflict between Depp and Heard initiated in 2019, when Depp sued Heard for defamation, following a 2018 op-ed piece she had written for The Washington Post, claiming she was a victim of domestic abuse. The Aquaman actress then countersued Depp the following year, and the case soon made headlines after it went to trial in 2022.Two trials were held, one in the UK and one in the US.

Exciting news – we’re getting a Hocus Pocus 3!
McKinley Franklin editor A third “Hocus Pocus” film is officially in development, Walt Disney Pictures president Sean Bailey has confirmed. In a profile with The New York Times, Bailey stated that “Yes, ‘Hocus Pocus 3’ is happening” when discussing additional upcoming live-action projects in development at the company. “Hocus Pocus 3” comes after the success of the 2022 sequel “Hocus Pocus 2,” which saw Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprise their children-hungry witching roles. The sequel broke records amongst the Nielson Top 10 streaming charts, taking home the largest opening weekend with 2.7 billion minutes viewed following its Sept. 30 premiere. The Disney+ movie also became the most watched original film for Disney+ over the frame of the first three days of release.
Marvel Studios has been the very model of a modern mini studio. Chief creative officer Kevin Feige and his small stable of executives have reliably delivered an unbroken string of global blockbusters to theaters and, starting in 2021, smash TV shows for Disney+. And they’ve done so while keeping virtually all their behind-the-scenes drama from spilling over into public view. It took just a week for that impeccable reputation to all but collapse, when Disney, Marvel’s parent company, fired Feige’s most high-profile lieutenant, Victoria Alonso, after 17 years with the company, most recently as the president of physical, postproduction, visual effects and animation.
Tim Gray Senior Vice President With 20/20 hindsight, the mega-success of Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick” might seem inevitable, since it is a sequel to a familiar title, and it stars Tom Cruise. Of course nothing is a sure bet. And even with its popularity, there was no assurance Academy voters would embrace it. But the film earned $1.48 billion at the worldwide box office and scored Oscar noms for best picture, adapted screenplay, editing, sound, song (by Lady Gaga and BloodPop) and visual effects. The best picture nom recognizes four producers: Tom Cruise, David Ellison, Christopher McQuarrie and, after nearly 50 years in the industry, Jerry Bruckheimer, who is celebrating his first Oscar nomination.

The success of Hocus Pocus 2 as the most watched Disney+ movie of all-time with a first weekend of 2.7 billion views viewed spurred many to question whether the sequel to the near 30 year old movie should have gone theatrical, especially during a dry spell at the fall box office when theaters were desperate for it.
