The creepy clip gives audiences a closer look at the unbelievable story about a family manipulated by a friendly neighbor, who ended up kidnapping their daughter, Jan, not once twice. The series stars Jake Lacy, fresh off his Emmy-nominated performance in, as Robert Berchtold, a charismatic friend who grew close to various members of the Broberg family, including mother Mary Ann (Anna Paquin), father Bob (Colin Hanks) and Jan (Mckenna Grace).

A Friend of the Family showrunner-creator Nick Antosca, stars Lio Tipton and Colin Hanks and activist and producer Jan Broberg, on whose life the series is based, joined Deadline’s Contenders Television to spotlight sexual-abuse awareness.

The pair join previously announced cast members Annette Bening and Sam Neill in the series. The show was originally ordered at Peacock in February 2022. Per the official logline, the series “centers on the Delaneys, who from the outside appear to be an enviably contented family. But he has all the hallmarks of a psychopathic personality,” says FBI Agent Peter Walsh, who is portrayed here by Austin Stowell.

Mckenna Grace is channeling Jan Broberg in the first official look at the upcoming true-crime series , which chronicles the harrowing story about a teenage girl who was kidnapped multiple times by the same man. Set to premiere Oct. 6 on Peacock, the limited series from showrunner and executive producer Nick Antosca recounts the unbelievable real story about how Jan and the Broberg family were manipulated by their trusted neighbor, Robert Berchtold, who ended up exploiting the parents before turning their daughter against them. In addition to Grace, will also star Anna Paquin as Jan’s trusting mother, Mary Ann, alongside Colin Hanks as Jan’s big-hearted father, Bob, with Jake Lacy as Robert and Lio Tipton as his concerned wife, Gail.

Peacock’s limited drama series A Friend Of The Family continues to build its cast, adding Austin Stowell (The Hating Game), Patrick Fischler (American Crime Story: Impeachment), Bree Elrod (Red Rocket) and Philip Ettinger (First Reformed). Peacock has given a straight-to-series order to A Friend of the Family, a true-crime limited drama about the Jan Broberg kidnapping case, from Nick Antosca (The Act, Channel Zero) and UCP, with Oscar winner Anna Paquin, Jake Lacy, Colin Hanks and Lio Tipton attached to star. Eliza Hittman (Never Rarely Sometimes Always) is set to direct and executive produce multiple episodes, including the pilot.
