Disney Entertainment Television is expanding its Directing Program into the unscripted genre for the first time, selecting two directors for its inaugural run.

The perfect storm of traffic delays, pro-Palestine protests, the first day of daylight saving time and an earlier start time had contributed to the last-minute crunch. “We were definitely stressed out, because we had to have certain celebrities in their seats,” Oscars producer Molly McNearney — also an EP on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” — tells Variety on Monday morning.

It will be Hamilton’s fourth time directing the ceremony, while Kapoor has worked on the show for the past seven years and most recently served as producer for the 95th Oscars.

ABC will unveil the identity of the star of “The Golden Bachelor” on Monday morning. But for now, we have the first glimpse at the first-ever mature star of “The Bachelor” franchise in its two decades on the air. From the looks of the key art for “The Golden Bachelor,” the leading man does indeed appear to be more senior than the typical cast on the franchise. The marketing materials for the upcoming season, which debuts this fall, show the back of the mystery man’s head — and we can see some salt-and-pepper in his hair and beard.

As part of the announcement, ABC revealed that it had launched a new slate publicity and special projects division, overseen by Kline-Shapiro, “responsible for identifying collaborative opportunities across the ABC and General Entertainment programming slate, streamlining the approach to publicity events, festivals and junkets.”Kline-Shapiro, who has oversee unscripted publicity for ABC Entertainment, will add “Live with Kelly and Ryan” and the new slate publicity and special projects team to her oversight.

The Oscars had everyone talking on Sunday night, but not always in a good way.

In the run-up to this year’s Oscars telecast, the folks behind the scenes kept hinting that the event was going to be very different than what film fans have come to expect from the awards show. Dubbing the event a “film” versus an awards show, with a “cast” instead of presenters, it seemed as if ABC and the Academy were hoping to use the pandemic as an excuse to experiment with the format.
