But we really did go about this film as a team. There was a little method approach to it, like in the first half of the film, when my character is not very nice to hers. Kapoor was speaking at the Creative Industries and Cultural Economy Summit at London’s Nehru Centre as part of India Global Forum’s U.K.-India Week on Wednesday. She was in conversation with Amish Tripathi, minister (culture and education), Indian High Commission and director Nehru Centre, who is also a bestselling author. Kapoor said that while Bollywood is changing, the change isn’t quick enough. “The gender pay gap is humongous. And I don’t think that will be narrowing very soon, unfortunately, but the roles are getting meatier for sure,” Kapoor said, adding that her contemporaries like Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone have pursued films where they could play the central character.

Set in a small, sleepy town in Rajasthan, western India, “Dahaad” is an eight-part crime drama that follows sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati (Sinha) and her colleagues at the local police station. When a series of women are mysteriously found dead, Bhaati is tasked with the investigation.

A remake of 2019 Tamil-language hit “Kaithi,” “Bholaa” follows a prisoner who is going to meet his young daughter after being released from jail. However, he gets embroiled in an epic journey that sees him up against a drug cartel and helping the police. “We are keeping the basic storyline similar, obviously that’s the reason you make a remake, because we like the storyline. We’ve altered a lot of characters, a little bit of the screenplay, and the characteristics of people. The drama has changed in a way, the emotions have changed – somewhere I would say enhanced, more underlined,” Devgn told Variety.

She made a comeback with parenting-themed series “Mentalhood” for streamer ALTBalaji in 2020. “Brown” is her first acting gig since then. The series is based on the 2016 novel “City of Death” by Abheek Barua, adapted by Digvijay Singh, Sunayana Kumari and Mayukh Ghosh and directed by Abhinay Deo (“24: India”). It follows Rita Brown (Kapoor), a world-weary, recovering alcoholic, ace detective in the Kolkata police force belonging to the city’s small but influential Anglo-Indian community, who is assigned to the murder case of a young woman from a well-connected family.

Naman Ramachandran Bollywood action star Vidyut Jammwal (“Sanak”) is teaming with Arjun Rampal (“The Rapist”) and Jacqueline Fernandez (“Attack”) on extreme sports action film “Crakk – Jeethegaa Toh Jiyegaa!” The film, the journey of a man from the slums of Mumbai to the world of underground extreme sports, reunites Jammwal with his “Commando 3” director Aditya Datt. “Crakk” has started shooting in Poland and is scheduled to release in 2023. “Crakk” is presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Action Hero Films and PZ Pictures, with Jammwal and Parag Sanghvi serving as producers. It is co-produced by Adi Sharmaa and Aditya Chowksey.

The franchise was revived in 2013 with “Aashiqui 2,” directed by Mohit Suri and starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, which was also a box office success. The second part of the musical love story was a spiritual successor rather than a direct sequel and the third part will continue in that vein. Pritam, who has a long and successful working relationship with Basu, having composed the hit scores of several of his films, including “Barfi!,” “Gangster” and “Life in a… Metro,” will provide the songs.
