Prime Video has set September 1 for the Season 2 premiere of fantasy epic series The Wheel of Time. We’re also getting a first look at the second season in some new images released today.

Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time has cast Danish model-actress Maja Simonsen, Icelandic actress and former Olympic swimmer Ragga Ragnars, Irish actor Jay Duffy and New Zealand singer, actress and comedian Rima Te Wiata in recurring roles for the hit fantasy drama’s upcoming second season. The announcement was made during today’s virtual panel at JordanCon.

Prime Video has given a series order to God of War, based on PlayStation’s hugely popular ancient mythology-themed video game. Co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios in association with PlayStation Productions, God of War will premiere on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The series had been in the works at the streamer since March when Deadline reported exclusively that Prime Video was in negotiations for the property.

“The Wheel of Time” isn’t going anywhere. The Prime Video fantasy saga, based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling novels, has been renewed for a third season, it was announced Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con.

The series is set in a magical world accessible to a select few, where a woman named Moiraine (Pike) crosses paths with five young men and women, resulting in a dangerous, world-spanning journey. On how the series will stay in budget for the upcoming season, showrunner Rafe Judkins told TheWrap earlier, “We don’t have the budget of a lot of shows on TV, but we’re trying to deliver everything we can, like every dollar that we have is being juiced to put something on screen so that we can bring as much of this big, epic world that Robert Jordan created to life.”In late April, it was announced that “Killing Eve” alum Ayoola Smart would be added to the series, though details of her character were not released.
