Zack Sharf Digital News Director Liam Neeson appeared on a recent episode of the “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend” podcast (recorded prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike) and again shaded the “Star Wars” franchise for diluting itself with so many sequels and spinoffs. The actor, who played the Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn in George Lucas’ “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” (1999), was asked about how often “Star Wars” fans come up to him to ask for an autograph. “Not all the time,” Neeson answered.
Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best has returned to the Star Wars franchise in a surprise cameo that’s left fans ‘crying’. The 49-year-old is known for playing Jar Jar in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, having first appeared in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
Since the launch of Disney+ back in 2019, the streaming service has proven to be an embarrassment of riches for “Star Wars” fans.
Zack Sharf Liam Neeson gets asked in almost every interview if he would reprise his role of Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn in a “Star Wars” spinoff. The answer is often no, and such was the case when Neeson joined Paul Rudd on the Feb. 16 episode of “Watch What Happens Live!” But Neeson took things a step further, explaining that his reason for not wanting to reprise Qui-Gon Jinn is because the “Star Wars” franchise is damaging its own magic. “No, I’m not,” Neeson said when asked if he’s interested in returning. “There’s so many spinoffs of ‘Star Wars.’ It’s diluting it to me, and it’s taken away the mystery and the magic in a weird way.” Neeson had a brief cameo in the Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” but he only had about two lines of dialogue. The actor made his “Star Wars” debut in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,” but his character died and his “Star Wars” tenure was cut short. Neeson told ComicBook.com last year that he’d consider reprising Qui-Gon Jinn under one condition: It’s got to be a movie, not a television show.
Star Wars fans have been sent into a frenzy speculating the latest addition to the series has revealed iconic Star Wars character Obi-Wan Kenobi’s sexuality. The much-loved character, played by Sir Alec Guinness in the original films and Ewan McGregor in both the prequel trilogy and the Disney+ miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi, is featured in the new spin-off novel Padawan, the latest addition to the Disney canon published on Tuesday. The young adult novel, written by author Kiersten White, revolves around a teen Obi-Wan attempting to prove himself while apprenticing under Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn, played by Liam Neeson in the films.Social media users quickly highlighted one passage that appears to show the Jedi-in-training questioning his sexuality, with many concluding it confirms he is bisexual. In the passage, Obi-Wan is being quizzed by another male teenager, Casul, about romantic relationships.Obi-Wan doesn’t appear to have considered the option and awkwardly tries to change the subject. He then grows flustered as Casul propositions him if he is ever “curious”.The character says, “Not many choices around here.
After its final episode last night, the long-anticipated Disney+ limited series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” comes to a close. But not without a nice little surprise (spoiler alert for those who haven’t watched yet!).
Clayton Davis Irish-born actor Liam Neeson is celebrating his 70th birthday, and with it, over five decades of memorable and outstanding performances in film and television.A classically trained theater actor, he made his way through the early days of his career with minor roles in critically acclaimed films such as “The Mission” (1986) and “Husbands and Wives” (1992). But his big break came when he took on the role of Oskar Schindler in Steven Spielberg’s best picture winner “Schindler’s List” (1993).
“Obi-Wan Kenobi” when it hits Disney+ this week. So…do you remember what happened in those films? No one could fault you if the answer is no. It’s been 17 years since “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” was released in theaters, and like we said, those movies weren’t everyone’s favorites.
Zack Sharf Liam Neeson’s Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn died in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,” but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping over the years that the actor might return to the franchise. Considering previously-thought dead “Star Wars” characters have popped up on screens (see Darth Maul in “Solo” and Boba Fett in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett), it’s entirely possible for Neeson to wield a lightsaber once again.
Earlier this year, “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” actor Liam Neeson told Collider that he would be open to the idea of reprising his role as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in the upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series. Resurrections aren’t out of the ordinary in this fantasy franchise, and force ghosts of fallen Jedi are clearly an already established device.
Liam Neeson has ruled out an appearance in the forthcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.
While his “Star Wars” on-screen protege Ewan McGregor is headlining the upcoming Disney+ spinoff series “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, Liam Neeson is addressing rumours he’ll reprise his role as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.
