Gorillaz debut new Tame Impala and Bootie Brown collaboration ‘New Gold’ at All Points East

Gorillaz headlined London’s All Points East last night (August 19) and debuted a new collaboration with Tame Impala and Bootie Brown – watch them play ‘New Gold’ below.The band played the Victoria Park festival to kick off the second part of their 2022 European tour, and were supported by IDLES, Turnstile, Yves Tumor, Self Esteem, Femi Kuti, Obongjayar, NewDad, Remi Wolf, Gabriels, Ibeyi, Nia Archives and Willow Kayne.During their headline set, they brought out a bounty of special guests including De La Soul, Happy Mondays‘ Shaun Ryder, Popcaan, Moonchild Sanelly and Mos Def.Half way through the set, they then debuted a brand new song called ‘New Gold’, featuring Tame Impala and Bootie Brown.

Liam Gallagher has given his ruthless verdict on a resurfaced clip of his brother Noel playing a version of Gorillaz’ ‘Dare’ with Damon Albarn. The video was captured in December 2015 at a 60th birthday party for Paul Simonon, the bassist in The Clash, who is also part of the performance. Noel Gallagher is singing the vocal that was originally recorded by the Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder while playing guitar, and Albarn is singing his original melody line from the 2005 song, with Simonon on bass.

Lighbulb Film Distribution will release the doc in the U.K. and Ireland. Virgil is repping sales in almost all other international territories at the Cannes Film Market. Writer/director David Lancaster’s feature tells the story of Vincent, a flawed genius who began designing speed record-breaking bikes in England nearly a century ago. It follows Philip Vincent-Day as he embarks on a search for answers about his grandfather’s life and work. Leno, Simonon, Surtees and other Vincent bike aficionados offer their expert perspectives.

The Clash’s Paul Simonon has stated that he wouldn’t have reunited the band for £1million.The iconic punk bassist has explained that while the members were contemplating a reunion in the ‘90s – after parting ways in 1986 – there were numerous reasons why the prospect never materialised, including his feud with bandmate Mick Jones.“There was talk between me, Joe [Strummer], Mick and Mick’s manager, Gary Kurfirst, who was looking after Mick in B.A.D. But it didn’t happen for lots of reasons,” he explained to MOJO.

Galen Ayers and Paul Simonon announce new project and debut album

The Clash, Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad and The Queen, has teamed up with singer-songwriter Galen Ayres for a new project.The pair are set to release their debut album, ‘Can We Do Tomorrow Another Day?’, under the name Galen & Paul, on May 19. The album comprises a collection of bilingual duets, with both singers singing in English and Spanish, in which they explore a variety of European music cultures.Per a press release, the album began coming together in lockdown, which Simonon spent in a Mallorcan fishing village writing music and painting. As COVID-19 restrictions lifted, he began working with local musicians and busking in front of cafes in Palma.

Public Image Ltd guitarist – and founder member of The Clash – Keith Levene has died, aged 65. He had been receiving treatment for liver cancer for two years.In a statement on Twitter, writer Adam Hammond announced Levene’s death, saying: “It is with great sadness I report that my close friend and legendary Public Image Ltd guitarist Keith Levene passed away on Friday 11 Nov”.“There is no doubt that Keith was one of the most innovative, audacious and influential guitarists of all time”, he went on.

The Clash announce special edition of ‘Combat Rock’ with ‘The People’s Hall’

The Clash are set to release a special edition of their classic album ‘Combat Rock’, NME can exclusively announce.Released in May 1982 as the final album from The Clash line-up of of Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon, ‘Combat Rock’ was the punk icon’s highest-selling and highest-charting album in both the UK and US – featuring the likes of ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’, ‘Rock The Casbah’, ‘Straight To Hell’ and ‘Know Your Rights’.Now, a special edition of the album will arrive next month. Entitled ‘Combat Rock / The People’s Hall’, the original record now comes with 12 additional tracks compiled by the surviving members of The Clash.Not only that, but the band’s collaborations with the late Ranking Roger will receive their first ever official release within a separate two-track EP.

The Clash‘s Paul Simonon is to go on permanent display at the Museum of London later this year.Simonon smashed his Fender Precision bass at New York’s Palladium in September 1979, with photographer Pennie Smith capturing the dramatic moment on her 35mm Pentax camera.The resulting image, which sees Simonon raising the guitar like an axe, became part of rock folklore after it was chosen by frontman Joe Strummer to be the cover of The Clash’s 1979 album ‘London Calling’.As The Guardian reports,
