ABC is comparing parenting styles in its upcoming unscripted series The Parent Test.

Fox has set an early 2024 premiere date for its new game show The Floor, hosted and produced by Rob Lowe. The Floor, from Big Brother and The Voice creator John de Mol, will launch Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 9 PM on Fox.

Fox First Run is set to launch Person, Place or Thing game show, hosted by Melissa Peterman, this fall on Fox Television Stations following a successful four-week test run last summer. The half-hour weekday show has been sold across 89% of the U.S. in 161 markets from various station group, including Sinclair, Nexstar, Scripps and Tegna, according to Fox First Run.

Fox has set the 12 fearless celebrities who soon will be packing their bags and preparing for launch to the red planet (sort of) on Stars On Mars, the network’s latest unscripted competition series.

Sophia Scorziello editor You’ve heard of elf on the shelf, but are you ready for “Stars on Mars?” This summer, Lance Armstrong, Marshawn Lynch, Ronda Rousey and Tinashe are among the 12 celebrities packing their bags for Fox’s “Stars on Mars,” an unscripted series originally ordered in April that takes put real world stars in competition to conquer the planet (via simulation of course) as they receive orders from mission control William Shatner, legendary “Star Trek” actor. The rest of the crewmates include comedian Natasha Leggero, comedic actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, television personality Tom Schwartz, professional football player Richard Sherman, actor Porsha Williams Guobadia, artist Tallulah Willis and actor Ariel Winter. Together, they will leave the real world behind as they strategize their survival while sharing a simulated space station on the red planet.

Fox is sending celebrities to “Mars” for its latest competition series.

Maybe that’s fine: It’s not as if there aren’t other reasons to bring them their (dead) flowers. Still, they were experimenting with hybrid genre elements as early as 1968’s “Beggars Banquet” LP. Those latent elements mostly stayed kind of latent: Even though Keith Richards — admirer of Merle Haggard, close pal of Gram Parsons — took it very seriously, Mick Jagger admitted, “I don’t know if I’m able to do it without being tongue-in-cheek.” But if the group could only move so close to country in the end, country was sure able to move closer to them over the years. Think of how many cues the loud and rowdy Southern rock movement took from the Stones before it started crossbreeding with country later in the century.

CBS is preparing to set sail with The Real Love Boat by sharing the cold open of its new dating show aboard a Princess Cruises ship.

A busy Alex Wagner, host of MSNBC’s Alex Wagner Tonight, is expanding her resume with another TV gig. Wagner has been named host of Netflix’s The Mole reboot. Netflix’s new version of the classic competition series is set to premiere October 7 on the streaming network. The Mole, based on Belgian format De Mol,  last aired on ABC from 2001-08 with Anderson Cooper as one of the initial hosts.

VFX Firm DNEG Promotes Chas Jarrett to Creative DirectorDune and Tenet VFX firm DNEG has promoted Chas Jarrett to Creative Director. Jarrett, who is based out of London, joined DNEG as a Senior VFX Supervisor in 2019 and is an industry veteran with credits on films such as Aladdin (2019), Logan, Sherlock Holmes, and Sweeney Todd. He will take over the reins from incumbent DNEG Creative Director and two-time Oscar-winning VFX Supervisor Paul Franklin, who will continue on at the company as a Visual Effects Consultant. In a statement, DNEG Group President, VFX, and Stereo, Josh Jaggars said: “Congratulations to Chas on his well-deserved promotion to Creative Director of DNEG. Rebecca Romijn (“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”) and Jerry O’Connell (“The Talk”) will co-host CBS’ upcoming reality series “The Real Love Boat,” the network announced Tuesday.Inspired by the ’70s scripted series “The Love Boat,” “The Real Love Boat” is a dating show that sees contestants mingling on a luxury cruise ship, sailing through the Mediterranean. The show will feature destination dates and challenges between the couples that form, with one couple winning a cash prize and a free trip from Princess Cruises.“The Real Love Boat” is set to premiere Oct. 5 at 9 p.m.
