Pablo Schreiber is looking so buff!

Two years ago, “Halo” premiered on Paramount+ as one of the upstart streamer’s tentpole series, with high hopes that the show would soar thanks to the original videogame’s popularity. But “Halo” failed to take off with critics, with many meeting it with a mixed reception.

Nearly two years after it debuted on Paramount +, the military science fiction television series “Halo” will return in 2024. As expected—Paramount accidentally revealed the news early when they put all of season one on YouTube—“Halo” season two will return on February 8, 2024.

Paramount+ has slotted Thursday, February 8, 2024 for the Season 2 premiere of Halo, based on the widely popular and long-running Xbox game franchise. The streamer also unveiled the first-look teaser trailer during its panel today at CCXP in São Paolo, Brazil, with cast members Pablo Schreiber and Joseph Morgan, along with showrunner David Wiener and executive producer Kiki Wolfkill.

Paramount+ is unveiling its lineup for this year’s CCXP in Brazil, with series and franchises including Halo, Star Trek: Discovery, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Thundermans Return, Drag Race: Brazil and more. The pop culture confab is set for Saturday, December 2.

Naman Ramachandran Paramount+ has revealed its lineup for Brazilian comic convention CCXP. The streamer will host a panel on the event’s Thunder Stage on Dec.

The Max drama is the second series in less than a year to take on the same story: the case of Candy Montgomery, a Texas housewife who killed her friend and neighbor Betty Gore with an ax in 1980. This version follows closely on the heels of “Candy,” which aired on Hulu last year. The proximity practically demands comparison, and it’s tempting to draw up a laundry list of differences and call it a review. “Love & Death” casts Elizabeth Olsen as Montgomery, while “Candy” stars Jessica Biel. (The more jarring contrast is between the former’s Jesse Plemons and the latter’s Pablo Schreiber, two physically opposite actors who both assume the role of Allan Gore, Betty’s husband and Candy’s ex-lover.) “Candy” is inflected with horror, while “Love & Death” is more naturalist. “Candy” flashes back from the day of the murder, which saw Montgomery toggle from brutal homicide to eerily banal errands, while “Love & Death” is more linear in structure. The effect is not unlike that of 2019’s competing documentaries about the viral quagmire known as Fyre Festival, with the same details refracted through distinct sensibilities. But instead of racing to cover a recent event, these shows converge on a tragedy more than four decades old.

The first trailer for the upcoming limited series “Love & Death,” which stars the “WandaVision” and “Sorry for Your Loss” actor, shows the actor’s transition into the infamous murder suspect Candy Montgomery. HBO Max also disclosed the series’ April 27 launch date.

“Love & Death” is the second project in a year to focus on Candy Montgomery, a killer accused of murdering Betty Gore, the wife of Allan Gore, with whom she had an extramarital affair. Montgomery was portrayed by Jessica Biel in the Hulu series titled “Candy,” which saw Melanie Lynskey and Pablo Schreiber play Betty and Allan Gore, respectively.

Joseph Morgan (The Originals) and Cristina Rodlo (No One Gets Out Alive) have joined the Season 2 cast of Paramount+’s original series Halo, based on the hugely popular Xbox video game franchise. The announcement Wednesday comes as production on the second season has begun in Iceland. Additional filming is to take place in Budapest, Hungary, later this year.
