Linkin Park’s Brad Delson and Mike Shinoda have spoken to NME about the 20th anniversary of ‘Meteora’, lost song ‘Lost’ and the chances of more unheard music being released from the archives.Last week, Linkin Park released an expanded version of their 2003 album ‘Meteora’ – featuring a host of previously unheard demos alongside behind-the-scenes footage and live performances.“We wanted to make something timeless with ‘Meteora’, which is really audacious for a bunch of 20-year-olds to even say or think,” guitarist Brad Delson told NME. “The hope was that the music would have longevity and continue to inspire people.”He continued: “It’s a really interesting moment for us right now, because we’re celebrating 20 years of a really special album but ‘Lost’ is a song we made, loved and forgot about and it’s having such a moment.”The aptly-titled ‘Lost’ was recorded at the same time as ‘Meteora’ but didn’t make the final cut because the band “couldn’t find a place for it” on the record.“Telling a story with the album was so important, and we felt like ‘Lost’ had too much of a similar energy to ‘Numb’,” said Delson.

Demi Lovato has released a rock reworking of ‘Heart Attack’ to mark its tenth anniversary.Lovato had previously played a rock version of her 2013 song on tour in support of their recent album ‘Holy Fvck’, but has now released a studio version with re-recorded vocals and fresh production provided by Warren “Oak” Felder and Mitch Allan, who produced the original song.“I’m so happy to be able to give a new life to ‘Heart Attack’ with a sound that reflects where I am with my music. Mike Shinoda has shared how Linkin Park became the first band to prank Metallica.Back in summer of 2003, Linkin Park opened for Metallica on their North American ‘Summer Sanitarium’ tour – along with Mudvayne, Deftones and Limp Bizkit – in support of the metal band’s ‘St. Anger‘ album which came out the same year.Appearing on a recent episode of SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, singer, rapper and guitarist Shinoda explained how Linkin Park were able to bring a lighter touch to Metallica’s famously raucous shows.“Nobody had ever pranked them on stage,” Shinoda recalled.“By the way, it was like four of us I think.

Mike Shinoda recalls the emotions he felt after losing bandmate Chester Bennington in 2017.During a recent episode of SiriusXM's, the Linkin Park co-founder said losing Bennington to suicide led to a dark time and a roller coaster of emotions.«There were points where I felt that way… and that's natural,» he tells Stern of feeling angry.Bennington died on July 20, 2017 from suicide. He was 41. Just five months prior to his death, the Linkin Park frontman opened up about his depression in a podcast.
