Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Tim Allen is one step closer to returning to ABC for a third time. The Alphabet net has given a pilot order to his latest sitcom, “Shifting Gears,” from 20th Television. Allen is on board to star and executive produce the multi-cam sitcom pilot — which is still a working title — which will also be written and executive produced by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully.

I'm afraid "average" just doesn't cut it anymore. The animated sitcom Duncanville, from creators Amy Poehler and Mike and Jackie Scully, centers on the ho-hum travails of a gangly redheaded teen with no discernible personality traits other than "confused." Duncanville is proud of this, purposefully billing itself as a comedy about "a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy," according to the Fox press release.

Duncanville, Fox's newest addition to the Sunday night animated block, isn't out to reinvent the wheel. Created by Amy Poehler and The Simpsons' Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, the show blends right into the cartoon comedy scene already populated by The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, and Family Guy, and it doesn't seem to mind bringing us more of the same snickers. In fact, that's kind of its thing.
