Selome Hailu Amin Joseph, Karen Obilom and Kimiko Singer have joined the cast of “Send Help,” Allblk’s upcoming dark comedy series from Jean Elie and Mike Gauyo.“Send Help” follows Fritz Jean-Baptiste (Elie), who is riding high as the star of the fictional hit TV show “This Can’t Be Us.” Convinced that the good times will roll on forever, he thwarts all other career advancing opportunities as he plays the field with multiple women, instead of tackling a family tragedy that is beginning to unravel his entire life.Joseph plays Sebastian “Simp” Gauyo, whose presence serves as a guide for Fritz, helping him navigate the difficult and often comical scenarios in his life. Obilom and Singer play Ashley Young and Erica James, respectively, two women that Fritz finds himself caught between amidst his ongoing personal and professional struggles.

The 2023 class of mentees for the Black Boy Writes & Black Girl Writes Mentorship Initiative was announced today. The mentees are presented by writer Mike Gauyo (Insecure, Ginny & Georgia), in partnership with Stage 32, and with support from Culture Creative Entertainment, M88, and Final Draft.

Insecure alumni Jean Elie (Colin in Black & White) and Mike Gauyo (Ginny & Georgia), fresh off the popular HBO series’ final season, will reunite to create Send Help, a dark comedy in development at AMC Networks’ streaming platform AllBlk.

He relocates to L.A.

Writer Mike Gauyo (Insecure, Ginny & Georgia) and industry-leading training platform Stage 32 open submissions to the Black Boy Writes & Black Girl Writes Mentorship Initiative under the Black Boy Writes Media banner. The initiative, which launched at the beginning of 2021, focuses on supplying industry access and resources to preWGA Black screenwriters.

Writer Mike Gauyo (Ginny & Georgia, Insecure) is moving the needle when it comes to inclusivity in the writers room. Under his Black Boy Writes banner,  Gauyo has launched a new mentorship initiative that focuses on providing support and resources to preWGA Black writers.
