The Monkees’ Micky Dolenz sues the FBI

The last surviving member of The Monkees, Micky Dolenz, has sued the FBI demanding access to documents it possesses about the band. In a lawsuit filed this week, he says that he has attempted to gain this information via a Freedom Of Information Act request, but has so far had no response beyond an acknowledgement that his request was received in June.Dolenz has launched the lawsuit because, he says, he has exhausted all other avenues, despite being “entitled to timely receipt of nonexempt copies of all records responsive to his [request]”, according to Law360.He also hints in the lawsuit at what he plans to do with the information he seeks, saying that he “has the ability to disseminate information on a wide scale and may use information obtained through his request in an original work, particularly an independent film, documentary or book”.Now, you might be thinking, “Pfft! The FBI probably doesn’t even have any files on The Monkees”.

Bert Schneider, his partner in the independent production company Raybert, began kicking around the idea of a television show about a band “more interested in having fun than making a living”. Their Variety ad seeking “4 insane boys, [aged] 17-21” was answered by 437 hopefuls, and the successful applicants – Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork – were dispatched on a six-week improv course. The show’s goofily knowing house style did not arrive instantly – a pilot polled direly in testing.

High cholesterol: Do you feel that? The ‘painful' sensation in three areas could be a sign

High cholesterol is the predecessor of serious health problems, including heart disease and strokes. While there's plenty you can do to keep your levels in check, you have to identify the culprit first. Although this is not often possible without a blood test, there's one condition triggered by the fatty substance which might help give it away.

Micky Dolenz on How Bob Rafelson Used the Monkees to Help Create a Looser, Hipper ‘New Hollywood’

A.D. Amorosi Though regarded by cinephiles as one of the architects of the “New Hollywood” largely because of moody character studies like 1970’s “Five Easy Pieces,” filmmaker Bob Rafelson — who died Saturday at 89 — will also always be adored for his co-creation and production of the decidedly less moody, madcap television series “The Monkees,” and for further directing that makeshift band in the comically avant-garde 1968 film “Head.”Rafelson is very fondly remembered by vocalist and drummer Micky Dolenz, the final surviving member of the Monkees, who shared his thoughts about Rafelson’s role in the creation and development of the group with Variety.  A wildly silly sitcom about a faux teeny-bop band meant that its producer-showrunners, Rafelson and Bert Schneider (who died in 2011), had to find a willing quartet of actor-musicians.
