Purity Ring have shared their first new music of 2021: a stand-alone single, entitled ‘soshy’.The song, released yesterday (August 4), follows on from the band’s third album ‘WOMB’ in April 2020. Much like ‘WOMB’, ‘soshy’ was written, produced and mixed entirely by the duo themselves: vocalist Megan James and instrumentalist Corin Riddick.An accompanying music video has also been shared for the single, which was directed by Michigan-based visual artist Carson Davis Brown.

“I know it seems far, but just be where you are,” Megan James implores on “stardew,” the lead single from Purity Ring’s latest record WOMB. It’s a self-proclaimed “sex jam,” sure, but delineated entirely on James and Corin Roddick’s terms: less occupied with the obvious notions of the act but more with the idea that each of us carry infinite realms within us. Five years after the release of Another Eternity, Canadian electronic duo Purity Ring is back with its latest album, WOMB. The 10-track album includes recent singles like “pink lightning” and “stardew.” Production on the project is handled by group members Megan James and Corin Roddick.

At the top of next month, Megan James and Corrin Roddick will release their third album as Purity Ring. It's called WOMB, and is described by the band as "a quest for comfort and the search for a resting place in a world where so much is beyond our control." It's fitting, then, that the record is arriving during this cursed spring, while most of us are self-quarantined amid the global spread of COVID-19.
