Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor Native filmmaker Billy Luther heads to SXSW this weekend to premiere his narrative feature debut, “Frybread Face and Me” on March 11. Set in the ‘90s, the coming-of-age story follows Benny (Keir Tallman), a young Native American boy who plays with dolls, sports a Fleetwood Mac t-shirt and watches soap operas. Forced to spend his summer on the reservation with his grandmother, Benny finds himself impressed by his cousin “Frybread” (Charley Hogan) who opens his eyes to life on the rez. Featuring an entirely Native cast and predominantly Native crew, Luther says it was important to cast Navajo kids at the core of his film. He says, “With the help of Midthunder Casting, which also worked on FX ‘Reservation Dogs,’ we were able to find these incredible kids. The amount of Indigenous talent – Martin Sensmeier, MorningStar Angeline, and Jeremiah Bitsui came on. And we also brought on some amazing new faces from Indian country that are making their feature debut.”

Jason Clarke, Scott Eastwood and Chaske Spencer will star together in “Wind River: The Next Chapter,” the sequel to Taylor Sheridan’s “Wind River,” for Castle Rock Entertainment.Kari Skogland (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Americans”) will direct from a screenplay by writing partners Patrick Massett and John Zinman (“Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” “Friday Night Lights”).Starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, the 2017 Taylor Sheridan crime drama followed a seasoned hunter who helped an FBI agent investigate the killing of a young woman living on a Wyoming Native American reservation. The sequel also takes place on the Wind River resevation, where a series of ritualistic murders remain unsolved.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Jason Clarke, Scott Eastwood and Chaske Spencer will star in the sequel to “Wind River.” Entitled “Wind River: The Next Chapter,” the film will bedirected by Emmy nominee and BAFTA award winner Kari Skogland.  Patrick Massett and John Zinman have penned the screenplay. As previously announced, Martin Sensmeier will star and reprise his role as Chip Hanson. The original film also starred Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, neither of whom has been attached. According to the official description, the sequel involves the investigation into a series of ritualistic murders on the Wind River reservation. To solve the case, the FBI enlists Chip Hanson, a newly minted tracker for the U.S. Fish & Game, who becomes embroiled in a desperate and dangerous fight between the authorities, a vigilante, and the reservation. Production is currently underway in Calgary.

It’s Taylor Sheridan’s world and the Duttons are just living in it. The Yellowstone co-creator has found major success with the Kevin Costner-led series, which led to several spinoffs including 1883, 1923 and the upcoming 1883: The Bass Reeves Story.

With Taylor Sheridan out there ruling the world with his “Yellowstone” empire, it’s clear that studios are going to want to hitch their wagons to the filmmaker. One of those studios is Castle Rock Entertainment, which just announced plans for a sequel to “Wind River.” READ MORE: ‘Dallas Sting’: Skydance Cancels Soccer Movie With Matthew McConaughey Weeks Before Production According to Castle Rock Entertainment, the studio is developing a new film, titled “Wind River: The Next Chapter,” which as the title suggests, is in fact the next chapter in the story of “Wind River.” The 2017 film is written and directed by Sheridan and stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen.

Castle Rock Entertainment will be producing a feature-film sequel to Taylor Sheridan’s 2017 hit “Wind River.” The follow-up, titled “Wind River: The Next Chapter,” is to be directed by Kari Skogland (episodes of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “The Loudest Voice” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” along with Paramount’s upcoming Gal Gadot-starring “Cleopatra” biopic) from a screenplay by Patrick Massett and John Zinman. Martin Sensmeier, also from episodes of “1883” and “Westworld” along with the 2016 remake of “The Magnificent Seven,” will reprise his role as Chip Hanson.

The studio is planning a day-and-date release in April. “9 Bullets” centers on a showgirl (Headey), who risks everything when she rescues a young boy after his family is murdered by her ex-boyfriend, who also happens to be the local crime-boss (Worthington).
