Lilibet’s early childhood was not just carefree and secure, but surprisingly warm and loving, too.This was thanks to the efforts of her father, Bertie, who having endured a strict upbringing, battling a severe stammer throughout his life, encouraged demonstrations of affection in the family. As a baby, her days were mostly spent at 145 Piccadilly, overlooking Green Park.
