Instead of Ben Affleck starring with Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl, it was almost Jon Hamm.
Maggie Moore(s) has the real life families behind the tragedies upset.
Michael Nordine author If his post-“Mad Men” career has taught us anything, it’s that Jon Hamm is a natural comic actor who happens to be great in dramatic roles rather than the other way around. At the risk of downplaying his exemplary work as Don Draper, the 52-year-old has seemed most in his element in the likes of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and especially last year’s criminally underseen “Confess, Fletch.” “Maggie Moore(s)” finds him somewhere in the middle of the comedy/drama spectrum as a small-town police chief investigating the murders of two women with the same name — an intriguing premise to be sure, but one that Hamm’s “Mad Men” co-star John Slattery, in his sophomore directorial effort, struggles to bring to a satisfying conclusion.
Tina Fey and Jon Hamm have made it to the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival.
Jon Hamm can’t help but gush over Tina Fey!
It is always an occasion for celebration when Jon Hamm and Tina Fey are back together on screen — big or small — having shared credits on various 30 Rock and SNL episodes (and the upcoming film version of Fey’s Mean Girls). But their latest collaboration is a clear departure, as well as a rare chance to see Fey out of her comedic zone.
Sometimes, a company logo in the opening credits says it all. Redbox Entertainment – yes, they of the DVD kiosks that still exist – helped produce “Maggie Moore(s).” It’s easy to see why they would want a part of the film: stick the distinctive mugs of stars Jon Hamm and Tina Fey on a tile, and it’s bound to pick up some curious viewers who assume the presence of the “Mad Men” and “30 Rock” stars lend the project some prestige.

Are two murders more than a coincidence? The new film “Maggie Moore(s)” presents an intriguing case in which homicide victims share the same name — these disturbing deaths occurring within just days of one another. Finding the murderer falls on a down on his luck police chief whose own life is filled with problems.
