William Earl For over 30 years, Omaha rockers 311 have been a fixture on alternative airwaves and renowned for their dynamic live shows. The band started in 1988 and their current lineup — Nick Hexum (vocals/guitar), Chad Sexton (drums), Tim Mahoney (guitar), SA Martinez (vocals/DJ) and P-Nut (bass) — has been solid for some 31 years. Blending heavy riffs with reggae flourishes, hip hop verses, funk breakdowns and touching on countless genres, the band’s musical influences are varied and have led to chart-topping songs, including “Down,” “Amber,” “Come Original” and a popular cover of the Cure’s “Love Song.” 2023 is as busy as ever for 311, as the group is headed on a fall tour with openers AWOLNATION, reissuing their debut album “Music” on vinyl, announced a new beer called Come Original India Pale Ale, and even released a TikTok-friendly sped up version of “Amber.” As if that isn’t enough, they’re planning to record a new album during a break on tour.

EXCLUSIVE: WME has signed writer-director Geremy Jasper for representation. Jasper’s first feature film, Patti Cake$, was a breakout hit at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The film played at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight and was released theatrically by Fox Searchlight over the summer. Additionally, Jasper also wrote all the movie’s original songs, which were released as a soundtrack album on Republic Records.His next film, O’Dessa, is set up at Searchlight with him directing and once again having written all the original music for the film. He is also developing an animated series with Searchlight TV.

Even for her, it felt a little strange.“I don’t do leads in films.

Yellow wildflowers in the dusty brown dirt, multi-colored rolling hills, and a green-blue lake set the stage for writer-director Max Walker-Silverman’s debut feature film “A Love Song.” A rumination on love found and lost, it’s also a hymn to the beauty and wonder of Walker-Silverman’s native Colorado. Cinematographer Alfonso Herrera Salcedo shoots the film with the hazy, yet hyper-defined colors of an old picture postcard.

If ever there was what we can affectionately call a “Sundance movie” , it is A Love Song, a micro-small, actor-driven heartfelt drama set in the rural west mountainous region of Colorado from first time feature writer/director Max Walker-SIlverman. Premiering in the NEXT section of the Sundance Film Festival tonight this is a deliberately paced look at two lonely lives of former childhood friends now leading a seemingly nomadic existence in the aftermath of grief over the loss of their individual spouses as they forge a tentative reunion that might – or might not – lead to romance, even as they have reached their senior years.  In an odd way it is the perfect companion piece for last year’s Best Picture Oscar winner, Nomadland , a movie also set in the sparse surroundings of the Southwest and focusing on a particular character, now alone , heading out on the road following the end of the life she once knew. It probably is no accident that a key producer here is Dan Janvey, who was one of the producers of Nomadland as well.

The band 311 celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2020, but the band’s formation is an annual celebration even on non-milestone years. This March 11 was no different, with the band seeing a 23% uptick in radio play (compared to the previous week) in the alternative and active rock formats, according to Mediabase.
