Showrunner Todd A. Kessler and executive producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura joined Deadline’s Contenders TV: Los Angeles event to discuss inspiration, casting and balancing facts with fiction for Apple TV+‘s latest historical series The New Look.

Transformers One, is going now on Sept. 20 instead of Sept. 13.

Chris Hemsworth joined forces with fellow Marvel actors Brian Tyree Henry and Lupita Nyong’o while attending 2024 CinemaCon on Thursday (April 11).

Carolyn Giardina Chris Hemsworth, the voice of a young Optimus Prime, and Brian Tyree Henry, the voice of a young Megatron, got an enthusiastic welcome at CinemaCon as they introduced a first look and 3D scene from “Transformers One,” Paramount‘s animated origin story based on the Hasbro toys. “This origin story is how they transformed from brothers in arms to sworn enemies,” said Henry from Las Vegas on Thursday. In the clip, Optimus Prime, Megatron and their friends “proven worthy” are given their powers to transform — and awkwardly get accustomed to using those powers.

CinemaCon this morning got a first look at the extended trailer for and a 3D scene from Paramount’s animated Transformers One. The origins story is due for release on September 13. From Paramount Animation and Hasbro; in Association with New Republic Pictures, it’s directed by Josh Cooley. 

We knew this was coming as indicated in the coda of last summer’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, but the G.I. Joe team and Transformers are getting together. It was a storyline played out for the Hasbro brands in their 1980s Marvel published comics.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Sony Pictures‘ “Madame Web,” a standalone origin story in the studio’s array of “Spider-Man”-based Marvel characters, has been granted a theatrical release in mainland China. The film will open in the country on March 1 — two weeks after the title’s Valentine’s Day bow in North America and multiple international territories, including the Chinese-language markets of Taiwan and Hong Kong. The release marks a welcome opportunity for Sony, which, along with the other traditional studios faced difficulty in securing theatrical runs in China over recent years.

Madame Web is headed East. Sony said today that its stand-alone origin tale from Marvel will hit China on March 1, two weeks after its North American bow.

Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for “The New Look,” a new historical drama series starring Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel. Inspired by true events, the series from Todd A. Kessler chronicles the fashion designers and their contemporaries as they launched modern fashion, set against the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris.

Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Glenn Close has been tapped to portray the legendary Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Carmel Snow in Apple TV+’s The New Look. The streamer revealed the news today along with two first-look photos of Close as the character. You can see them below. The role marks the first reunion for Close and The New Look creator Todd A. Kessler since their collaboration on the acclaimed series Damages.

Pat Saperstein Deputy Editor Jake Bloom, the larger-than-life Hollywood attorney who negotiated rich deals for clients including Nicolas Cage, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Depp, died Thursday in Sun Valley, Idaho, his wife Ruth confirmed. He was 81. In 2019, Bloom retired along with his partner Alan Hergott while the firm was still in the midst of litigation with former client Depp.

Jake Bloom, the founding partner of Bloom, Hergott LLP, the largest and most successful entertainment law firm in Hollywood history, died today of natural causes at his home in Sun Valley, Idaho. He was 81 years old.

Paramount has pushed back the release date for Transformers One, the newest animated feature in the Transformers franchise that was unveiled at CinemaCon in April. The origin story from director Josh Cooley, previously set to open on July 19, 2024, will now bow nationwide on September 13, 2024.

Hemsworth is playing young Optimus Prime, Henry is voicing young Megatron in the origin story about how the brothers-in-arms turned into sworn enemies. Additional cast members include Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion. “Toy Story 4” filmmaker Josh Cooley is directing the film from a screenplay by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. It’s set to release in theaters on July 19, 2024.

Beer is already developing several projects under the deal, with several films being kept under wraps. One that isn’t being kept secret is Susie Thunder, which after the studio won a ten-party bidding war, Beer has boarded the movie to develop with Beer producing alongside Epic Magazine’s Arthur Spector, Josh Davis and Josh Bearman. The project is based on the true story of Susan Thunder, one of the first and most infamous hackers in the 1980s.
