Caroline Brew editor Lena Waithe, who is a juror at Sundance, believes the festival “really sets the tone for the year,” citing “Past Lives” as an example from last year. “Obviously, ‘Past Lives’ has done really well, surprisingly so to the business. It’s a quiet movie about home, friends, what would’ve happened if you would’ve stayed in one place versus going somewhere else,” Waithe said.
The 2024 Sundance Film Festival is right around the corner and that means it’s time to finalize guests and, most importantly, jurors. The festival has a long tradition of honoring its multiple competition slates and over the years has recruited jurors such as Jane Campion, Sarah Polley, Edgar Wright, Jon Hamm, Darren Aronofsky, Quentin Tarantino, Parker Posey, and even RuPaul Charles.
The 2024 Sundance Film Festival has set 16 alums from past editions to serve on its Competition Jury, also announcing the set of five set as jurors for the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize.
