Mikkey Dee: “We will never, ever, ever tour with Motörhead as a name ever”

Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee has emphatically stated the band will “never, ever, ever tour” under the name again.Dee, who took over the sticks for the British heavy metal icons in 1992, stated that the band are over as a live act following frontman Lemmy Kilmister‘s death in 2015. However, he did add that wouldn’t stop surviving members from covering Motörhead songs live.“I really don’t think [the fans] want us to do that,” Dee told The Metal Voice podcast – see the full interview below. “That, to me, is stepping over the line.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield has shown off his latest tattoo, which is a tribute to late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister.Today (April 17), Hetfield took to Metallica’s Instagram to show off the tattoo, etched on his middle finger. The tattoo is of a spade inside what appears to be an iron cross symbol – a symbol that Hetfield has incorporated on his guitars in the past. The singer also a tattoo of an iron cross on his elbow.However, the tattoo isn’t a regular tribute to Lemmy, it also contains the remains of Kilmister himself, according to Hetfield.

Motörhead‘s rare 1998 cover of Metallica‘s ‘Enter Sandman’ has finally been released on all major streaming platforms.First recorded in 1998 as part of a compilation album for wrestling company ECW Wrestling, the track was only available via CD – and illegal rips posted online – until now. In celebration of Motörhead Day (May 8), the Grammy-nominated cover track has now been made available on all platforms.The newly released track also comes with an animated music video, in which a child is plagued by nightmares of an evil sandman, and is saved by Motörhead’s Warpig mascot.Beside the rare track’s digital release, a limited-edition 7″ vinyl edition of Motörhead’s ‘Enter Sandman’ cover – featuring an B-side etching of the Motörhead Warpig – is available via the band’s website.In January this year, drummer Mikkey Dee said that the band will “never, ever, ever tour” under the Motörhead name again.

Mötörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister was unveiled at French metal festival Hellfest earlier this month – see how they made it below.The new sculpture, which is the brainchild of artist Caroline Brisset, replaces an existing Lemmy statue at the event, which has been erected for six years.The second statue, a gigantic and imposing metal creation, was unveiled to signal the start of Hellfest 2022, which was held across two weekends (June 17-19 and 23-26) in Clisson, France.Surviving Mötörhead members Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell paid tribute to Lemmy at the unveiling ceremony for the statue, after performing at the festival.Dee, now a member of Scorpions, performed with the German band, and Campbell joined to play ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’. The two Motörhead members then headed to the base of the statue to pay their respects to Lemmy and Hellfest.“It was magic, thank you Hellfest for making this happen, me and Phil are very proud, and proudest of all is of course Lemmy!” Dee told the crowd.
