It was a bittersweet weekend for Backstreet Rookie fans who would faithfully wait every weekend, for the past few weeks, to watch the romantic comedy. Starring Ji-Chang Wook and Kim Yoo-jung, Backstreet Rookie centered on the love story between Choi Dae-hyun (Chang-wook), a convenience store manager and Jung Saet-byul (Yoo-jung), his part-time employee.

This weekend marks SBS' drama Backstreet Rookie finale. The K-drama stars Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung in the lead.

*SPOILERS ALERT* The end of Backstreet Rookie Ep 12 saw Choi Dae-hyun's (Ji Chang-wook) ex-girlfriend Yoo Yeon-joo (Han Sun-hwa) trying to mend things between the two after she finds out how the former had given up his job to save her from getting fired.

*SPOILERS ALERT* Things are going to be anything but good for Cho Dae-hyun (Ji Chang-wook) in the upcoming episodes of Backstreet Rookie as he is going to face a crisis so big that his convenience store could be in major jeopardy. Viewers are aware of the real estate scandal that Jung Saet-byul (Kim Yoo-jung) had to go through which made her homeless while currently being taken under the wing of Dae-hyun's family home.

The world may seem incredibly imbalanced right now but one thing's for sure; we'll never run out of K-dramas to distract us from our real-life troubles. Currently, there are two shows that have viewers buzzing with anticipation and that's It's Okay to Not Be Okay and Backstreet Rookie.

Backstreet Rookie has been under controversy from the time it replaced The King: Eternal Monarch, last month. Many viewers have complained about the sexual nature of the storyline, especially Jung Saet-byul (Kim Yoo-jung) and Han Dal-shik's (Um Moon-suk) characters.

It seems like Backstreet Rookie's problems are not going to die down anytime soon. The SBS drama, which filled in the slot previously held by Lee Min Ho's The King: Eternal Monarch, stars Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung in the lead.

Replacing The King: Eternal Monarch starring Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun may seem like a difficult task but Backstreet Rookie is taking up the challenge as it’s set to premiere tomorrow, i.e. June 19, 2020.

We're extremely sad with the knowledge that The King: Eternal Monarch, starring Lee Min-ho and Kim Go-eun aired its last episode last week. However, there's an exciting new K-drama that will take its spot on SBS and that is Backstreet Rookie.
