EXCLUSIVE: Sarah Desjardins (Riverdale), Kevin Alves (Locke & Key) and Alexa Barajas (The Flash) are set for recurring roles in Showtime’s drama series Yellowjackets. Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci and Tawny Cypress star in the drama series from writers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Entertainment One and studio-based producer Drew Comins. Production has begun in Vancouver, Canada for a 2021 debut on the network.

According to co-creator Ashley Lyle, «There will be a bonus episode between seasons.» Lyle revealed the news on Twitter, while responding to a fan who was up late Thursday evening, hoping that an unannounced episode will debut on the Showtime app.

season 2 was packed full of emotional twists and divisive surprises, there was one moment fans had been waiting for all season long: a cameo by Jason Ritter, the husband of Melanie Lynskey, who stars as adult survivor Shauna on the Showtime series. But, sadly, the actor failed to make an appearance in any of the episodes before the finale debuted on May 26. ET has learned that while we didn’t see Ritter yet in these nine episodes of season 2, he will appear in the world of at some point.

Seven-time Grammy winner Alanis Morissette has released the new single, “No Return” (Extended Version), a reworked version of Yellowjackets’ main title theme song.  Morissette’s new take on the theme, written by Yellowjackets composers Craig Wedren and Anna Waronker, debuted in the fourth episode of the series’ second season. One of the most talked-about TV series in recent years is set to return with the long-awaited second season of “Yellowjackets”.

On Wednesday night, some of the biggest young stars in the industry celebrated at Vanity Fair and TikTok’s Vanities: A Night for Young Hollywood at Mes Amis. The star-studded evening was co-hosted by Halle Bailey, Julia Garner and Paul Mescal, the latter of which is nominated for his performance in “Aftersun” at this weekend’s Academy Awards. Garner, who walked the red carpet with husband Mark Foster, was excited to be out and about during one of the biggest weeks of the year. “This is for the young, new talent that’s in the industry right now. It’s such an honor to be here — it’s nice to be out of the house outside of this bubble we’ve all been living in,” she told Variety. “Not via zoom!”

Julia MacCary editor Showtime has released the trailer for Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated series “Yellowjackets,” which is accompanied by Florence + the Machine’s new cover of No Doubt’s 1995 hit “Just a Girl.” The psychological horror series follows a high school soccer team that survives a plane crash in 1996, only to be left deep in the Canadian woods. Through a mix of flashbacks and present day, the show depicts how the athletes transitioned from an elite team into a savage clan. The second season picks up two months after Shauna disregarded Jackie with bad results. The tensions have grown within the team with winter conditions intensifying, leaving the girls to make impossible decisions to survive.

Showtime has dropped another trailer for season two of Yellowjackets, which will return for its second season Friday, March 24 on streaming and on demand for subscribers. It’ll make its on-air debut Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

So far, it looks like Elijah Wood has one of the more astute quotes from Yellowjackets’ second season.

Lauren Ambrose is revealed as adult Vanessa “Van” Palmer in three first-look images of Yellowjackets Season 2 released by Showtime. Liv Hewson played the character in Season 1 as a teenager.
