Do we really need Spider-Punk?'”Lord explained further: “He was in and out of the picture for a little while because we weren’t sure which elements we were going to stick in this part and which were going to migrate to the next movie.”“When we met Daniel Kaluuya, we realized that he had to be Hobie Brown, no matter the cost.

The Official Competition jury is led by “Power of the Dog” and “Cold War” producer Tanya Seghatchian (pictured), while the First Feature Competition (Sutherland Award) jury will be headed up by director and actor Nana Mensah whose directorial debut “Queen of Glory” won the Best New Narrative Director prize at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. Elsewhere, Italian filmmaker Roberto Minervini will lead the jury selecting the winner of the Grierson Award for Best Documentary after winning the award in 2018 for his film “What You Gonna Do When the World’s On Fire.”

Even though the Sony sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse doesn’t come out for another year, the movie has been a press tour which fired off with 15 minutes being shown at CinemaCon in late April and now another 15 minutes at the Animation festival Annecy this morning.

Thompson lifted the veil on the film’s big bad – an enigmatic antagonist known as The Spot.“For those who are not hardcore cannon nerds, The Spot is one of the deepest cuts in Spider-Man’s rogue gallery,” said co-director Kemp.

Sony’s animated sequel to the Oscar winning movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is moving from Oct. 7 this year to June 2, 2023. The news is breaking just before the studio’s presentation at CinemaCon next week.

British filmmaker Jeymes Samuel recently made waves with his action-packed western “The Harder They Fall” which focused on iconic black figures of the old west. Samuel is looking to reunite with Netflix for his next project, a superhero film based on Boom! Comics properties “Irredeemable” and its spinoff, “Incorruptible.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is aiming to combine the two comics into a single film with Samuel directing and screenwriter Kemp Powers tackling the script.
