Ninja Tune CEO Adrian Kemp has stepped away from his role pending an internal investigation into allegations against him.The London-based independent record label, founded by Matt Black and Jonathan More, is currently home to acts such as Young Fathers, Black Country, New Road, Kae Tempest and Bonobo.In a statement sent to staff (via Resident Advisor), Ninja Tune confirmed that Kemp would be taking a “step back” while an “independent third-party HR” company investigated the claims.He’ll temporarily depart the CEO role to not “prejudice this investigation in any way”, a letter from his solicitors read (via Mixmag).The details of the allegations are not known currently, but the document stated that Kemp “vehemently denies” the claims.Samantha Sissons, Ninja Tune’s Head Of Marketing, will step up to his role alongside the label’s Head Of Marketing Operations, Tess Kendall.“The outcome of the investigation will be made available upon completion subject to any legal barriers,” according to the statement to staff. “Adrian will continue to work in support of Sam and Tess but with a lower profile.”Kemp has worked at Ninja Tune for over 20 years and became CEO in 2017, per Companies House.Founded in 1990, Ninja Tune is one of dance music’s most successful independent labels.

BBC has released a series of first look images of This Town, the new drama series from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.Set in 1981, the six-part series centres on a band’s formation against a backdrop of violence, and is described as a love letter to Birmingham and Coventry, featuring fierce new music.The cast is led by a number of rising stars, including Levi Brown (Loss and Return), Jordan Bolger (The Woman King), Ben Rose (Line of Duty) and Eve Austin (You) as its four young leads.This Town also stars Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Nicholas Pinnock (Marcella), and David Dawson (My Policeman).In the first look images, the one above shows leads Ben Rose as Bardon Quinn, Jordan Bolger as Gregory Williams and Levi Brown as Dante Williams walking down a street.Another image shows Brown as Dante Williams in a record store, and in a third photo he’s pictured sharing a moment with Austin’s Jeannie Keefe in a dressing room.Dockery’s Estella and Pinnock’s Deuce Williams are also pictured getting ready to perform. Lil Uzi Vert has quietly confirmed that they now use the gender-neutral pronoun set they/them/theirs.The rapper is yet to share a statement or speak publicly about the change, but took to Instagram over the weekend to update the pronouns displayed on their profile.A majority of people that use they/them pronouns – which you can learn more about here – are non-binary, genderfluid or agender, however this is not strictly necessary for someone to prefer those pronouns for theirself. As they’re yet to formally address their own change in pronouns, it’s unclear how Uzi currently identifies in regards to their gender expression.Uzi is one of many artists to have announced they’ve adopted they/them pronouns in recent years.

Glastonbury has announced the line-up for its Shangri-La area at this year’s festival, with the likes of Bob Vylan, Brass Against and Nova Twins set to perform.The bill continues to grow for the returning Worthy Farm festival, which will be held next month from June 22-26.Shangri-La, a popular live music and late-night area located in the south-east corner of the festival site, has now revealed its line-up and theme for 2022, ‘WE THE PEOPLE’.“Shangri-La 2022 presents: WE THE PEOPLE,” a statement on the festival’s site reads. “Community, collaboration and hope for the next generation.

Kae Tempest has discussed publicly coming out as non-binary for the first time in a new interview, reflecting on the “beautiful but difficult” process.Tempest, who will release new album ‘The Line Is A Curve’ next month (April 8), announced in summer 2020 that they would be changing their name and wants to be referred to with they/them pronouns.Sharing the news on Facebook, the spoken word artist and rapper said at the time that they have been “struggling to accept” themselves for a long time, and that these changes are “a first step towards knowing and respecting myself better.”In a new interview with the Guardian, Tempest has now discussed the process of publicly sharing the news, and how their body dysmorphia has held them back in the past.“Coming out has been huge,” they said, describing it as “a beautiful but difficult thing to do publicly. Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten has discussed working with Kae Tempest on their upcoming album ‘The Line Is A Curve’.Chatten and his band were speaking on the red carpet at last night’s (March 2) BandLab NME Awards 2022, where they later picked up the award for Best Band In The World.After NME referenced the pair’s recent studio time with Slowthai, Fontaines were asked if any other new collaborations were on the way, with Chatten then confirming that he’s contributed two songs to Tempest’s ‘The Line Is A Curve’, which is due out next month.“I did a few tunes and they’re gonna be on their new album,” Chatten told NME.

Rick Rubin has announced his debut book, The Creative Act: A Way Of Being.The acclaimed music producer and Def Jam Records co-founder will publish the title in early 2023, The Guardian reports.The Creative Act… is said to be a non-fiction title focusing on the process of creativity. “I set out to write a book about what to do to make a great work of art,” Rubin explained in a statement.

Green Man Festival has announced over 70 new acts for their 2022 festival, with Kraftwerk, Beach House and Metronomy set to headline.The festival in Brecon Beacons, Wales had already confirmed that Michael Kiwanuka will co-headline their 2022 event.
