Brent Lang Executive Editor Mari Yamamoto will star opposite Brendan Fraser in Hikari’s “Rental Family.” The film follows a down and out actor living in Tokyo, who is hired as the token American guy for a Japanese rental family company providing professional stand-in services. The Searchlight Pictures‘ release will commence principal photography next week in Japan.

The Matrix franchise, will direct Trash Mountain, starring comedian Caleb Hearon.The project is being produced by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, along with Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev. The script for the movie has been written by Hearon, alongside Ruby Caster.The story, which is set to be a comedy, will follow a gay man in his 20s who returns to Missouri from Chicago to handle the aftermath of his father’s death, including wading through a house full of items and belongings.This project will be Lilly’s debut as a solo director, and will see her returning to filmmaking after almost ten years, following the release of 2015’s Jupiter Ascending.According to Collider, Wachowski, 56, said: “When my pal Caleb Hearon sent me Trash Mountain I leapt at the chance to direct it.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Brendan Fraser, a newly minted Academy Award winner, is set to star in the Searchlight Pictures comedic drama “Rental Family.” Japanese filmmaker Mitsuyo Miyazaki, who goes by Hikari and worked on Netflix’s “Beef,” is directing and producing the film. She’s also co-writing the script with Stephen Blahut, whom she collaborated with on the docu-drama “37 Seconds.” Principal photography will begin this spring in Japan, with release plans to be announced at a later date.

Beef helmer Hikari will direct from a script she co-wrote with Stephen Blahut. Hikari has been developing the project since 2019 and will produce along with Shin Yamaguchi as well as Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev of Sight Unseen Productions.

Rockwell in her feature-length directorial debut, the film centers on unapologetic and free-spirited Inez (Taylor), who kidnaps her six-year-old son Terry from the foster care system. As the film’s official description explains, the story follows mother and son “holding onto their secret and each other,” as they “set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City.” “A Thousand and One” is produced by Sight Unseen’s Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev; Hillman Grad’s Lena Waithe and Rishi Rajani; and Makeready’s Brad Weston. Sight Unseen’s Oren Moverman is executive producing alongside Rachel Jacobs.
