Coronation Street stars Robert James-Collier and Gaynor Faye may be taking on brand new roles in Channel 5's The Inheritance, however the actors have revealed that they swapped stories from their soap days whilst filming the drama. Gaynor is best known for playing Judy Mallett on the cobbles from 1995 until 1999, while Robert appeared on the show sometime later, starring as Liam Connor from 2006 until the character's untimely death in 2008.

Coronation Street actress Anita Carey has died, it has been reported. The Yorkshire-born actress was best known for her roles on British soaps Corrie and Doctors is said to have died aged 75 following a 13-year period of living alongside a breast cancer diagnosis.

Earlier this week tributes came flooding in from the TV world and beyond after it was announced that Kay Mellor had died aged 71. The actress, director and writer of prolific TV shows like The Syndicate, Fat Friends, Band Of Gold and more died on May 15, a spokesperson for her TV production company Rollem Productions said.

Leeds -born writer began her career at Granada Television in the 1980s, penning scripts for Coronation Street and creating Children's medical drama Children's Ward during that time. She also contributed to Channel 4 soap Brookside in 1989. Kay died aged 71 on Tuesday.

Band of Gold writer Kay Mellor has died aged 71, it has been announced. Mellor who was also best known for penning hit seres including Fat Friends which aired from 2000 until 2005, died on Sunday (May 15).

Gaynor Faye has posted an incredible throwback photo with her former Coronation Street costars, including Angela Griffin, Liz Dawn and Tina Hobley. Captioning the snap, Gaynor wrote: “Another classic @itvcorrie #corriegirls1998” Gaynor, 49, played character Judy Mallett on the popular soap from 1995 until 1999, while Angela Griffin played hairdresser Fiona Middleton between 1992 and 1998, joining the soap after she played Tina on Emmerdale.
