The 19-year-old southern California native was at the center of a major label bidding war after selling out his recently-announced Terapia Tour which is set to hit cities like New York, Las Vegas and Houston, with additional dates in Mexico.

HYBE and Geffen Records have revealed the contestants of its upcoming audition programme, The Debut: Dream Academy.At a press event in Los Angeles today (August 28 PT), HYBE chairman Bang Si-Hyuk and Interscope Geffen A&M Records CEO John Janick revealed the 20 idol hopefuls who will be competing for a place in an upcoming global girl group.The group of contestants hail from 12 different countries – including Korea, Brazil, the US, Sweden and more – and were picked from a global audition that started in November 2021.The 20 young women will participate in The Debut: Dream Academy, premiering September 1 at 8am PT on YouTube, which will run for 12 weeks and decide the upcoming girl group’s final line-up. In addition, the group’s development process will also be documented in an upcoming as-yet-untitled Netflix series, set to debut in 2024.“I have wanted to form an international group based on K-pop methodology for a while,” Bang Si-Hyuk said at the press event.

Hybe, the K-pop giant behind bands such as BTS, are looking to manufacture a new girl group and that process will be turned into a Netflix music docuseries.

The promotions find Michelle An being named president of creative strategy; Gary Kelly becoming general manager of Interscope and EVP and chief revenue officer of Interscope Geffen A&M; and new roles for Sam Riback and Nicole Wyskoarko as presidents of A&R, with the former exec assigned to pop and rock genres and the latter charged with on urban music. John Janick, chairman-CEO of Interscope Geffen A&M, said in a statement: “Each of these four executives has played an integral role in propelling Interscope Geffen A&M to become one of the most consistently successful music and culture companies in the world. In doing so, they and the amazing teams that they lead have made IGA a magnet for some of the world’s most talented artists. Marshall has helped foster the careers of KennyHoopla, who is currently on tour with Blink 182, Lil Mosey and d4vd, who has had a breakout year following the success of his global hits “Romantic Homicide” and “Hear With Me.” “Over the last few years, we’ve worked closely with Josh on a number of successful projects,” said Nicole Wyskoarko, executive vice president/co-head of A&R at Interscope. “He has an amazing ability to identify new artists across a number of genres and we’re looking forward to continuing our work with him via this new deal.”

They came up through the ranks together while the company underwent several transitions in leadership, expanded into global markets and most recently, made a successful move into film. In 2019, Lee — who is of Taiwanese descent — was named chief financial officer of the label after starting her journey at UMG as a senior financial analyst in 2005. She now oversees all of the company’s finance functions, as well as other key operational teams, and reports to chairman-CEO John Janick and Steve Berman, the label’s vice chairman.

Thania Garcia Tim Glover has been promoted to the role of executive vice president of A&R at Interscope Records, it was announced today (April 20) by Interscope Geffen A&M. In his new position, Glover will continue to work with the label’s roster of artists and emerging talent which includes Tierra Whack, Earthgang and Bas, among others.Glover joined Interscope Records in 2014 and since then has worked across a roster of over 20 artists including Dreamville’s JID and Ari Lennox.
