Netflix has signed its latest Hollywood A-lister as Benedict Cumberbatch is set to star in the upcoming series The 39 Steps.

EXCLUSIVE: The Apple TV+ series Murderbot is rounding out its leading cast with Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride), Tattiawna Jones (Orphan Black: Echoes), Akshay Khanna (Polite Society) and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range). The quad will star opposite Alexander Skarsgård, who also executive produces.

One of the more revealing moments of the 2023 Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon was the very warm standing ovation Sarah Polley and the cast of “Women Talking” received. The film was honored with the Robert Altman Award which is given to the director, cast and its casting director (in this case Polley’s brother John Buchan along with Jason Knight).

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has landed The 39 Steps, a limited series star vehicle for Benedict Cumberbatch. Edward Berger, who previously teamed with Cumberbatch on Patrick Melrose, will direct and The Revenant scribe Mark L. Smith will write the series. It’s an update of the classic thriller novel by John Buchan that was famously turned into the 1935 film classic by Alfred Hitchcock.
