Hocus Pocus 3 is currently in development at Disney!

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Disney confirmed in June that a third “Hocus Pocus” movie was in development, and now screenwriter Jen D’Angelo confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the latest Sanderson Sisters tale is still in the story development phase following the end of the WGA strike. “We’re still in the story phase, we’re still working on it,” D’Angelo said.

In the realm of road movies, family ties, and the complexities of sisterhood, the Hulu/20th Century Studio offers up Quiz Lady a film that charts a familiar course. Directed by Jessica Yu and penned by Jen D’Angelo, the film boasts an ensemble cast led by the undeniable talent of Sandra Oh and Awkwafina, supported by the comedic prowess of Will Ferrell, Holland Taylor, and Jason Schwartzman.

Awkwafina and Sandra Oh are an unlikely duo of sisters in the upcoming comedy, “Quiz Lady”.

Amazon on Monday morning unveiled a series of first-look stills for Totally Killer, its horror-comedy starring Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), which debuts on Prime Video October 6th.

TIFF today revealed their Centerpiece programme lineup which includes the Cannes Film Festival-winning Wim Wenders movie, Perfect Days. The festival also revealed another couple of star-driven world premieres that being Paramount’s Finestkind starring Jenna Ortega, Ben Foster and Tommy Lee Jones as well as 20th Century Studios/Hulu’s Awkwafina, Sandra Oh and Will Ferrell comedy, Quiz Lady.

20th Century Studios announced on Thursday that its previously untitled comedy starring Awkwafina and Sandra Oh, now known as Quiz Lady, about a dysfunctional family and the game show which just might be the key to their salvation, will premiere on November 3rd exclusively on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.

In a profile with The New York Times, Bailey stated that “Yes, ‘Hocus Pocus 3’ is happening” when discussing additional upcoming live-action projects in development at the company.  “Hocus Pocus 3” comes after the success of the 2022 sequel “Hocus Pocus 2,” which saw Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprise their children-hungry witching roles. The sequel broke records amongst the Nielson Top 10 streaming charts, taking home the largest opening weekend with 2.7 billion minutes viewed following its Sept. 30 premiere. The Disney+ movie also became the most watched original film for Disney+ over the frame of the first three days of release.

“Hocus Pocus 2.” And among critics, the sequel is faring better than its predecessor originally did — but only just.For the most part, reviews seem to be split between enjoying the nostalgia of “Hocus Pocus 2,” and wanting it to build more upon the original. Where The Hollywood Reporter’s Lovia Gyarkye argues that the sequel “honors its history without knowing quite how to move beyond it,” and IndieWire’s Jude Dry says it “hews closely to the original, perhaps a little too much,” others disagree.The AV Club’s Phil Pirrello wrote that “Using ‘Hocus Pocus’ more like a modular foundation than sacrosanct canon, director Anne Fletcher (Netflix’s “Dumplin’”) and screenwriter Jen D’Angelo find an inventive way of expanding upon the OG movie by reaching into the main characters’ past and softening the trio of witches’ more sinister edges as they once again wreak their unique, PG-brand of havoc on the town of Salem.”IGN’s Amelia Emberwing noted that it’s odd the movie doesn’t film in Salem, but nonetheless, “It’s wonderfully nostalgic that ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ feels like the Disney Channel Original Movies of yore.”Really, critics are just happy to see Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker back together again as the beloved witchy trio.

At the very least, the Mouse House avoids the laziest possible mistake with “Hocus Pocus 2.” This sequel to the childhood and camp classic, which arrives nearly three decades after the original bewitched audiences, does not amount to just a slightly updated remake of the first film for a cynical cash grab. But all that really means is opening up director Anne Fletcher and screenwriter Jen D’Angelo to make a different set of mistakes.

While Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy all reprise their roles as the three villainous witches in the sequel, there were some notable absences. For one, the main protagonists of the original film — Omri Katz’s Max Dennison and Vinessa Shaw’s Allison Watts — don’t appear in the movie. During the “Hocus Pocus 2” worldwide premiere on Tuesday in New York City, screenwriter Jen D’Angelo shed a light of hope that Max and Allison could return for a potential third installment.

The new trailer debuted at the D23 Expo with an introduction from Disney Chairman Alan Bergman. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy and Doug Jones are reprising their roles from the original 1993 film. Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo and Whitney Peak also star in the sequel, along with “Drag Race” queens Ginger Minj, Kahmora Hall and Kornbread “The Snack” Jeté.

Ethan Shanfeld “Hocus Pocus 2” has wrapped filming and will premiere on Disney Plus on Halloween, according to executive producer Adam Shankman.In an Instagram post on Friday, Shankman wrote, “SISTAAAAAHHHHSSS! Aaaaand that’s a WRAP!!! #hocuspocus2. Congratulations to the amazing team…and the WHOOOOLLLEEEE cast and crew!!! Coming to you #halloween #2022 on @disneyplus.”Disney did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment, but since spooky season programming typically comes out ahead of the holiday, we can probably expect “Hocus Pocus 2” just before Oct.

UPDATED, 3:05 PM: Producer Adam Shankman took to Instagram on Friday to unveil a premiere date for the anticipated Hocus Pocus 2, announcing that the sequel to Kenny Ortega’s 1993 Disney classic will debut on Disney+ this Halloween.

EXCLUSIVE: Following a competitive situation, 20th Century Studios has acquired the rights to an untitled Sister comedy from Gloria Sanchez with Awkwafina and Sandra Oh starring. Jessica Yu is directing with Jen D’Angelo, who recently penned Hocus Pocus 2, writing the script. Gloria Sanchez founders Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum will produce along with Itay Reiss and Maggie Haskins from Artists First. Gloria Sanchez’s Alex Brown will exec produce.

The horror comedy film Hocus Pocus 2 has added Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, and Hannah Waddingham to its cast, and has set a fall 2022 premiere date on Disney+.

Chris Pratt and Sam Richardson are teaming up for a new movie!

Angelique Jackson Chris Pratt has signed on to produce the action comedy “Stranded Asset” for Universal Pictures, starring Sam Richardson, who co-wrote the movie’s script with Jen D’Angelo.The new project reunites the trio after their successful collaboration on Amazon’s “The Tomorrow War,” which Pratt executive produced and starred in alongside Richardson.

Awkwafina and Sandra Oh will play sisters in an upcoming comedy for Netflix. The untitled feature was written by Jen D’Angelo, andfollows a lonely recluse has her life is upended when her train wreck of a sister vows to mend their relationship by helping her fulfill her lifelong dream: to be a contestant on her favorite game show.

I don't want to encourage you to get your hopes up too high, because Hollywood has an awful habit of nurturing your pop culture dreams and expectations before popping them like a balloon on a whim...but it really does sound like a Hocus Pocus sequel is going to happen.
