Joe Otterson TV Reporter Troy Kotsur has joined Season 3 of “Foundation” at Apple TV+. The role will mark a return to Apple for Kotsur, who previously starred in the film “CODA,” which was distributed by the streaming arm of the tech giant. In “Foundation,” Kotsur will appear in the role of Preem Palver, described as “the leader of a planet of psychics.” He joins returning series leads Lee Pace and Jared Harris in the sci-fi epic.

Troy Kotsur, who won the Oscar for his role in CODA, is heading back to Apple.

After a nearly two-year wait, David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman‘s “Foundation” returns to Apple TV+ this month for its second season.

The official trailer for “Foundation” Season 2 is finally here, and it’s clear the Second Crisis is imminent. “I have dreams sometimes about things that will happen, and I wake up terrified,” Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) says in the trailer for the upcoming season.

Can humanity survive an ever-changing landscape? The Apple TV+ series “Foundation” returns with a bold new vision, taking place a century after the Season One finale. Since then, a religious phase has prompted a wave of changes — some more destructive than others.

Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Foundation will debut globally on July 14 with one episode, followed by new episodes weekly, every Friday.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Feature documentary “The Ghost of Richard Harris,” which premieres Sunday at the Venice Film Festival, looks to answer the question: “Who was Richard Harris?” The film also contains the revelation that Harris was offered the role of Gandalf in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” movies, but chose to take the part of Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter” franchise instead. Variety spoke to director Adrian Sibley and Richard Harris’ son Jared Harris – a distinguished actor himself, and one of the originators of the project – about how the documentary came to be made. Sibley first broached the subject of making a film about Richard Harris some 20 years ago with the man himself, who responded: “I’ll do it, but only if I can tell the truth half the time,” Jared Harris recalls.

The latest craze in the kid’s genre of films is currently available to watch on Netflix after its release on July 8. The Sea Beast tells the story of a young girl (Maisie Brumble) who stows away on the ship of a legendary sea monster hunter (Jacob Holland), with the pair launching an epic journey into uncharted waters while making history in the process.

The release of the film, directed by Adrian Sibley, coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Irish actor’s death.The film, produced by Bright Yellow Films, Samson Films and Groove Intl., tracks Harris’ career, which was overshadowed by a reputation for drinking and riotous behavior. Exploring this complex, flawed individual, the documentary features Harris’ three sons, BAFTA Award-winning actor Jared Harris (“Chernobyl,” “The Crown”), actor Jamie Harris (“Carnival Row,” “West Side Story”) and director Damian Harris (“Brave the Dark,” “Wilde Wedding”).

The Jared Leto-starring superhero movie boasts a paltry 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the lowest-rated Marvel films ever released.
