Disney+ is giving fans a first look at its much-anticipated martial arts adventure.

Narcos: Mexico has picked up two nominations at the International Emmy Awards 2022 and will battle with Lupin, Vigil and South Africa’s Reyka for the coveted Drama Series prize.

PPC Media has also acquired Alejandro Amenábar’s Movistar Plus+ original “La Fortuna,” with Stanley Tucci and Clarke Peters, a tale of piracy, court room battles and historical justice set between the U.S. and Spain. Reaching more remote places, Beta has also closed Mongolia with Hulegu Media, on “Sisi” a mix of sex, politics and period glam from RTL, Beta and Story House, a modern mindset take on a film icon.  

Naman Ramachandran British-Indian actor Arjun Mathur, 2020 International Emmy best actor nominee for Amazon Prime Video India series “Made In Heaven,” has signed with the U.K.’s United Agents for international representation. Mathur has wrapped the U.K. schedule of Indian dark comedy “Lord Curzon Ki Haveli” and is in the process of completing season 2 of “Made in Heaven.” After that he will shift focus to his international career, where his credits include acclaimed Channel 4 series “Indian Summers.” “They [United Agents] sat me down and spoke to me the other day, and they were like, ‘We need you to not take some work in India for some time, and we understand how that can make you insecure, and it might be hard financially.'” Mathur tells Variety.

NRK since 2013, will be joining Banijay Nordic’s scripted label Rubicon as its Chief Executive Officer.  Announced by Banijay Nordic on Monday, the appointment marks big news for Scandinavia’s TV sector as it prepares to gather tomorrow at Sweden’s Göteborg Festival for its annual TV Drama Vision confab.Under Kohn’s leadership, NRK emerged from the shadow of Denmarks’s DR (“The Killing,” “The Bridge,” “Borgen”) by producing a string of international hits such as, just recently, International Emmy winner “Atlantic Crossing,” Canneseries 2018 laureate “State of Happiness” and “22 July,” which won a Nordisk Film and TV Fond Prize in 2020.  Most recently for NRK, Izer Aliu’s “Countrymen,” a Rubicon production, picked up a Canneseries award last October for its ensemble cast, plus a nomination for this week’s Nordisk Film and TV Fond Prize. An institution in Norway, Køhn spent six years before joining NRK as the Norwegian Film Institute’s head of development and production.

Christopher Vourlias Dubai-based sales agent Cercamon is launching a dedicated documentary feature label and will unveil its first slate of titles at this year’s European Film Market, including Constantin Wulff’s Berlinale Forum selection “For the Many – The Vienna Chamber of Labor.”The company plans to handle 8 to 10 documentaries per year across all markets, with former Doc & Film International and Mediawan Rights exec Suzanne Nodale tapped to oversee all acquisitions and sales of the slate.A specialist in documentary sales, Nodale has worked on titles such as Gianfranco Rosi’s Oscar-nominated “Fire at Sea,” Gregory Monro’s International Emmy Award winner “Kubrick by Kubrick” and “Banksy Most Wanted,” a Tribeca Film Festival selection from directors Aurelia Rouvier and Seamus Haley. “I am thrilled to have Suzanne joining the team to expand the reach of Cercamon,” said the company’s CEO, Sebastien Chesneau.
