Alanis Morissette is using Sunday's 2023 CMT Music Awards as a networking event for female country stars, she told ET from the red carpet. «I love the sisterhood,» Morissette told ET's Cassie DiLaura before heading into the show. During the ceremony, she'll make her CMT debut with a performance of  «You Oughta Know» alongside Ingrid Andress, Lainey Wilson, Madeline Edwards and Morgan Wade.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic CMA Fest has announced its lineup for the festival’s 2024 edition, taking place in Nashville June 6-9, and as usual, the roster for the nightly stadium shows is a who’s who of recent country charttoppers and awards contenders, with Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson foremost among the newer crop of headliners. The names gracing the Nissan Stadium main stage lineup aren’t entirely that fresh.

The People’s Choice Country Awards made its debut on Thursday night at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. On this night at least, the people’s choice was Jelly Roll, aka Jason Bradley DeFord, who was a winner in four categories.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic A couple of members of a fresh generation of country music — Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson — came away as the top victors at Sunday night’s CMT Music Awards, broadcast live from Austin for the first time. But the biggest winners may have been CMT and CBS, putting the three-hour telecast on the map as a show packed with enough performance firepower that it does merit having made the move from a cable platform to major broadcast premiere as of last year. However much the official winners may delight a core country crowd happy to see young radio and streaming favorites get rewarded, the big draw for the CBS audience was likely a series of collaborations between country stars and their pop or rock counterparts, as has been the custom for years on the rival CMA Awards. Most notable were the all-female collabs that had Carly Pearce dueting with Gwen Stefani on No Doubt’s “Just a Girl,” or Alanis Morissette trading lines with a slate of young female artists that included Lainey Wilson, Ingrid Andress, Morgan Wade and Madeline Edwards. The all-star teamings spread to those who presented, too, with Megan Thee Stallion providing the most enthusiastic introduction imaginable for “my new besty,” Shania Twain.

The awards show has announced a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute that will include Billy Gibbons, Chuck Leavell, Cody Johnson, Paul Rodgers, Slash and Warren Haynes.The musicians will honor the band and the late original founding member Gary Rossington. LeAnn Rimes and Wynonna Judd will also be joining as the tribute as The Honkettes. The celebration comes 50 years after the launch of the band’s debut album. Dale Krantz Rossington, band member and wife of Rossington, is set to attend the tribute alongside fellow Lynyrd Skynyrd band members Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlock.This news comes after the show added Alanis Morissette and Gwen Stefani as performers to the star-studded lineup. On the collaborative front, Gwen Stefani will join recent No. 1 country hitmaker Carly Pearce for a duet of a yet-unannounced song. And Alanis Morissette will be joined on her original signature number, “You Oughta Know,” by four of country’s most compelling young artists — Morgan Wade, Madeline Edwards and chart-toppers Lainey Wilson and Ingrid Andress (plus guitarist Jackie Venson) — as part of a salute to the 10th anniversary of CMT’s Next Women of Country initiative. All four of Morissette’s singing counterparts on this collab came up being featured as part of the annual Next Women lineups.
