This is the inspirational moment a young charity champion rings the bell at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital live on the BBC to mark the end of his cancer treatment.

Hughie Higginson was first diagnosed with leukaemia in 2020 and was too poorly to leave hospital for weeks. After around a month and a half on the ward, he was finally able to go up to the roof of the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and breathe fresh air for the first time in more than a month.

Ant and Dec surprised best friends, Hughie Higginson and Freddie Xavi, during Daily Mirror’s Pride Of Britain Awards, which was aired on Thursday night. It was revealed that the duo had won the GMB Young Fundraiser gong after they raised more than £220,000 for Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
