The actor, who starred as uncle Jerome Saint, returned to the FX series to direct this week’s episode, “Ballad of the Bear.” As “Snowfall” inches closer to the series finale, Gustavo ‘El Oso’ Zapata’s (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) important decision to choose a side takes center stage in this week’s episode. After being approached by the CIA, the DEA and the KGB to turn on his associates, Oso must figure out whose side he’ll stand on — will he continue to stay loyal to Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) or former agent Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson)? Or will he choose to put his faith behind a third party player, Ruben, the former Cuban national with Russian heritage, working for the KGB to expose Teddy’s corruption and weaken America’s status?

EXCLUSIVE: A spinoff of the hit drama series Snowfall is in early stages of development at FX, sources tell Deadline. No one would comment but we hear that, if it comes to fruition, the offshoot would potentially star Gail Bean reprising her fan-favorite Snowfall character, Wanda.

Snowfall‘s sixth and final season will premiere on Wednesday, February 22 with the first two episodes beginning at 10 p.m.

Selome Hailu FX has renewed “Snowfall,” the crime drama created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio and Dave Andron, for its sixth and final season.The series is set in Los Angeles during the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s. Season 5, which is currently airing on FX, takes place in summer 1986, and follows Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) and his family as they’ve become rich and are on the verge of having everything they’ve ever wanted, until basketball star Len Bias’ crack-related death sends lawmakers and the Los Angeles Police Department after them.

Common, the rapper, songwriter and actor, will star in and produce “The Faith of Long Beach,” an upcoming boxing film from the creator of “Snowfall” Eric Amadio. Amadio will write and direct the film for producer Everlast Pictures.

Common has been tapped to star in and will produce The Faith of Long Beach, and indie boxing drama to be written and directed by FX’s Snowfall co-creator and executive producer Eric Amadio. Adonis Tountas of Everlast Pictures, who put the project together, is also producing.

Snowfall‘s Damson Idris is adding the title of Producer to his resume. In addition to his starring role as Franklin Saint on the hit FX series, Idris will serve as a Producer for the upcoming fifth season, due to premiere in 2022.

FX has handed Snowfall an early renewal for a fifth season, just three episodes into season four.
