Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentNetflix and Finnish broadcaster YLE are set to co-produce “Dance Brothers,” a young adult dance drama series which marks Endemol Shine Finland’s first scripted commission. “Dance Brothers” is a 10-part Finnish language series created and produced by Max Malka, Endemol Shine Finland’s head of scripted. Filming is set to kick off in the Spring in Helsinki, Finland’s capital, with Taito Kawata on board to direct.

French TV production company Banijay Group, backed by French media and telecom giant Vivendi, has closed its acquisition of Endemol Shine from Disney and Apollo Global Management, creating a global production titan that will be the largest TV producer outside the U.S. Sophie Turner Laing, CEO of Endemol Shine, said she was leaving now that the deal was closed.

According to an exclusive report by the Daily Mail, the 33-year old was charged on March 6 with two counts of sexual assault following an alleged incident on February 23, while MasterChef was being filmed in Melbourne.

With the stocks of myriad global companies plummeting in the face of the coronavirus crisis, some M&A deals in Europe have been placed on hold or terminated, while others are hanging in the balance, such as production-distribution powerhouse Banijay Group’s hefty $2.2 billion deal for Endemol Shine, the producer of “Peaky Blinders” and “Black Mirror.”

2017 MasterChef Australia runner-up Ben Ungermann was set to make a return to the upcoming 2020 season of the cooking competition. However, it was confirmed today that the 34-year-old has been removed from the series after being arrested.

Endemol Shine Nordics has appointed Hanne Palmquist to the newly created post of head of scripted. Palmquist will also take charge as managing director of Swedish production company Filmlance.
