Pearson is coming to Peacock!

Peacock is hoping to drive some eyeballs to Pearson, the short-lived Suits spin-off, after the latter became a surprising hit on Netflix this summer.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “The Peripheral” has been canceled at Amazon’s Prime Video, Variety has learned. The news comes despite the fact that Amazon renewed the show for a second season back in February. The series, based on the William Gibson novel of the same name, debuted on Amazon on Oct.

Prime Video has picked up a second season of The Peripheral, the Chloë Grace Moretz starrer that’s based on the best-selling novel of the same name by William Gibson.

Prime Video dropped the latest trailer for The Peripheral, the long-gestating sci-fi drama from Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s Kilter Films that’s based on the bestselling novel by William Gibson. The cast and producers made an appearance at New York Comic-Con today to hype the series that premieres Oct. 21.

In the sci-fi thriller series based on William Gibson’s novel, Moretz plays Flynne Fisher, a young woman living in the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2032 with her Marine veteran brother Burton (Jack Reynor) and ailing mother. As their mother grows sicker, Flynne and Burton make ends meet by playing paid simulations (aka sims). According to the show’s official description, “The two siblings share Burton’s avatar, ‘jockeying’ for high-paying customers to beat challenging game levels. When Burton is offered a chance to beta test a new Sim, it’s Flynne who ends up playing, pretending to be her brother. The Sim takes place in London and it tasks Flynne with breaking into a corporation known as the Research Institute—to steal a valuable secret. When the assignment goes wrong, Flynne begins to realize the Sim is more real than she ever could have imagined. The London she’s exploring exists in the future… the year 2099. And what Flynne has uncovered in the Research Institute has put her and her family in grave peril. There are people from the future who want to use Flynne for the information she’s stolen… and there are others who want Flynne dead. The stars of Regina King’s “One Night in Miami” have earned a ton of well-deserved acclaim since its world premiere at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. Kingsley Ben-Adir has already won a Gotham Award for his portrayal of Malcolm X and both Eli Goree and Leslie Odom, Jr., who play Cassius Clay and Sam Cooke, respectively, have also earned raves.

Aldis Hodge is good at filling big shoes. After portraying the likes of MC Ren in and Brian Banks in the NFL player's biopic, Hodge stars as the legendary running back Jim Brown in, alongside Malcolm X, Sam Cooke and Muhammad Ali.Directed by Regina King, the film is a dramatized account of an evening the four friends spent together in the '60s.
