The Walking Dead maker Skybound Entertainment is pushing into the unscripted game.

Directing team Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (“Captain Marvel”) have been tapped to bring their quirky expertise to Amazon’s new streaming series “Criminal” by helming the first four episodes. This exciting collaboration, first reported by Deadline, promises to deliver a thrilling adaptation of the acclaimed comic book series.

Prime Video has been steadily producing some of the most popular adaptations of popular IP over the past several years. Shows like “Jack Ryan,” “Reacher,” and “The Boys” have been solid hits for the streaming service and are all based on pre-existing IP.

Prime Video has given a series order to Criminal, a drama based on the multi-Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series created by Ed Brubaker, who writes the comic, and Sean Phillips, who illustrates it. Brubaker, who penned the pilot script, will co-showrun the TV series with crime fiction author Jordan Harper (Hightown).

The streamer has placed a two-season order for the cartoon, which is described as “a reimagining of the Batman mythology through the visionary lens” of executive producers Abrams, Reeves and Bruce Timm. “Batman: Caped Crusader” was ordered to series at HBO Max in May 2021. In August 2022, the show was scrapped along with five other upcoming animated series set up at the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamer, including “Merry Little Batman,” “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie,” “Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical,” “Did I Do That to the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story” and “The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie.”

200 “Sesame Street” episodes and feature film “Batgirl,” which was slated to be released this year. On Monday, the service also axed six animated projects that were earmarked for HBO Max, including “Batman: The Caped Crusader,” from “The Batman” director Matt Reeves, J.J.
