Based on the Clive Barker novel The Hellbound Heart, David Bruckner’s Hellraiser (2022) takes the original concepts of addiction, pleasure, and pain and tries to update them for Gen-Z. However, the initial ideas get lost in translation, losing all of what makes the 1987 film, starring Doug Bradley, so fresh, fringe, and meaningful. The movie starts promising enough, but by the third act, tricks, tropes, and story issues pile on, and becomes too much to bear. However, some redeeming qualities include Jamie Clayton, the cenobite costumes, make-up, and set design. 

Following ever diminishing sequels and rumoured reboots that failed to get off the ground, Clive Barker has confirmed he’ll write a brand new remake of his own classic horror hit HELLRAISER (which was based on his own novel ‘The Hellbound Heart’). The film will mark the first time Barker has been involved in the creative process since cult sequel HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II.

BreAnna Bell Doug Bradley (“Hellraiser”) has been added to the cast of The CW’s “Gotham Knights” series, the network announced on Wednesday. Bradley will appear in Episode 6 of Gotham Knights as Joe Chill, one of DC Comics’ most notorious villains known for cruelly killing Bruce Wayne’s parents. After fifty years of rotting on death row, Joe Chill is scheduled to be executed. However, Gotham’s infamous “Patron Saint of Bad Guys” isn’t about to let his secrets die with him. “When casting the iconic role of Joe Chill, arguably the man who created Batman, there was only one name we considered – Doug Bradley. We needed an actor with the kind of gravitas that would do justice to such a seminal character in DC Comics canon,” said series co-creators Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams in a statement. “And who better to embody the role of the classic Gotham fiend than the man whose legendary portrayal of another classic fiend – Pinhead in the Hellraiser franchise — continues to terrify generations of horror fans?”

EJ Panaligan editor Hulu released an official trailer for the upcoming “Hellraiser” reboot, starring Jamie Clayton as the iconic pin-riddled villain, Pinhead. In the trailer, Pinhead causes havoc for a young woman named Riley, played by Odessa A’zion. The 2022 reboot follows Riley as she struggles with addiction and comes across an ancient puzzle box whose sole purpose is to summon Cenobites, sadistic supernatural beings that come to Earth from another dimension. The original 1987 film saw Doug Bradley playing the leader of the Cenobites, and only in the later sequels was he then identified as Pinhead. The “Hellraiser” franchise has spanned across four theatrical films, six straight-to-home movies and multiple comic books.

Hulu has announced that its reimagining of the 1987 horror classic Hellraiser will debut exclusively on the streamer in the U.S., as part of its annual “Huluween” celebration of fright-filled content, on October 7. (Watch the first teaser for the new film, unveiled today by Hulu, above.)

Stranger Things and Lizzo mash-up happened – and now it’s finally here. Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays villain Vecna, was practicing his character’s gravelly voice and he sounded Good as Hell when he recited the chartopper’s lyrics. The 33-year-old actor was discussing how he found the monster’s voice during Wednesday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower, who appears as the villainous Upside Down monster Vecna in the show’s fourth season, has shown off the terrifying voice he uses for the character – by reciting Lizzo lyrics.While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Bower explained how he first came up with the low, menacing voice that his character uses throughout the show, saying that he was inspired by Doug Bradley’s portrayal of Hellraiser. “It said that this deep, booming voice kind of comes out of the darkness,” he said.

Lizzo-meets-Vecna vibes. Jamie Campbell Bower dove into the process behind his terrifying  villain on Tuesday night, telling host Jimmy Fallon about how he developed his character's bone-chilling voice before delivering some classic pop culture lines as Vecna. «It took a few months to get right,» he said of the vocal work. «We had the readthrough in March of 2020 and I had been doing a bit of work on Vecna and on [his other character] Henry. I only got the job in January, so I had February to prepare for it.»Bower sat behind co-star Millie Bobby Brown at the first table read, where his initial version of Vecna «started in this very kinda nasally area,» he said.

Corey Taylor has given an update on Slipknot’s new album and its expected arrival date.In a new interview on Down To Hell with Doug Bradley, the Slipknot frontman said that they’re now in the process of mixing the album with an anticipated summer release date.He said: “We don’t have a hard [release] date yet ’cause we’re lazy and we’re still mixing the damn thing.”He continued: “I can tell you it’s completely recorded and we’re about halfway through mixing it. So, to me, I would say probably two or three months [from now].

Spyglass Media Group and Hulu have made official the upcoming cast of David Bruckner’s reboot of Hellraiser, as well as the fact that the movie is headed to the latter streamer.
