Spearheaded by Tony Gilroy (“Michael Clayton”) — who wrote, directed, and oversaw the reshoots and editing of ‘Rogue One’— the “Andor” series follows Cassian Andor’s early rise within the Rebellion as one of its key spies during the tyrannical reign of The Empire.

Star Wars spin-off series, Andor – watch it below.On Thursday (May 26), Disney kicked off ‘Star Wars Celebration’, its four-day fan event in Anaheim, California, unveiling a number of teaser trailers, release dates, casting announcements and more.Among the announcements was the first trailer for the Andor, a 12-episode series that acts as a prequel to 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.Set five years ahead of the events of Rogue One, in which Andor (played by Diego Luna) and Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) led a group of rebels on a mission to steal the plans of the original Death Star, Andor will explore Cassian’s backstory as he starts his journey toward becoming a rebel hero.The series will “explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” marks the newest series in the franchise, with the first two episodes releasing on Disney+ on May 26. The series takes place 10 years after the events of the prequel trilogy, and according to director Deborah Chow, tells a close-ended story.

Lots of news broke yesterday at the “Star Wars Experience” convention in Anaheim about Tony Gilroy’s upcoming “Star Wars” show “Andor.” And the biggest news of the day was about the scale of the series. Season 3 of Disney+’s The Mandalorian will debut in February 2023, co-creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni said onstage Thursday during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim.

The “Star Wars” universe continues to expand on the small screen through Lucasfilm‘s many growing Disney+ shows. On the horizon later this summer, “Andor” centers on Diego Luna‘s Cassian Andor from “Rogue One,” exploring how his character became involved with the Rebellion.

A little more than a week before Disney’s Star Wars Celebration fan event, LucasFilm primed the pump in a lengthy Vanity Fair cover story revealing details about the constellation of Star Wars projects headed for Disney+.

Disney+ is going all in on “Star Wars”, with three shows premiering this year.

Vanity Fair, the future of “Star Wars” will be deeply rooted in new television series on Disney+, beginning with the premiere of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” on May 27, followed by the Diego Luna-led “Andor” series, “The Mandalorian” Season 3 and Rosario Dawson’s solo “Ahsoka” series. But there’s an additional series in the works, shrouded in mystery, led by Watts.There’s no official title or synopsis just yet, but the working title is reportedly “Grammar Rodeo,” which is a reference to an episode of “The Simpsons.” (In the episode, Bart and some of his classmates steal a car and run away for a week, but that’s the only hint toward a plot so far).
