After directing the television series Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter for Japanese network NHK BS Premium, Gorô Miyazaki returned to his roots at Studio Ghibli, looking to take on his first film in “full 3D CG.”

Kacey Musgraves has joined the English language cast of Studio Ghibli’s first-ever all-CGI film Earwig and the Witch.The film – also known by the title Aya and the Witch – was announced back in June.

Richard E. Grant, Kacey Musgraves, Dan Stevens and more will lend their voices to Goro Miyazaki’s new GKIDS and Studio Ghibli feature Earwig and The Witch, inspired by Diana Wynne Jones’ book of the same name.

Studio Ghibli have released a series of stills from their upcoming film, Aya and the Witch.

Studio Ghibli have confirmed that their next film release will be called Aya And The Witch.Based on the children’s book Earwig And The Witch by the late Diana Wynne Jones — the writer behind Howl’s Moving Castle — the new film has been directed by Hayao Miyazaki’s son Gorō.Announced last week by production company NHK Enterprises, Aya And The Witch will premiere in the winter later this year on Japan’s NHK general TV under the name Aya to Majo.
