EXCLUSIVE: A new single-camera comedy series is in the works at Fox from Denis Leary, Jack Leary and Joel Church-Cooper.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Denis Leary and O-T Fagbenle have rounded out the cast of the upcoming Netflix series “No Good Deed,” Variety has learned. The series, which hails from “Dead to Me” creator Liz Feldman, is described as a half-hour dark comedy.

Emmy Award nominees Denis Leary (Rescue Me, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) and O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale, Black Widow) are rounding out the cast of the Netflix 8-episode series No Good Deed, starring Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow.

Along with Penn and Kearney, the pilot starred Ellie Taylor, Amir Bageria, and EaeMya ThynGi.FX did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.Tolan wrote, directed, and executive produced the “Belated” pilot. Nick Alford of Cloudland also executive produced.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterFX has added four new cast members to Peter Tolan’s upcoming comedy pilot “Belated.”Alongside previously announced series lead Kal Penn, the pilot will also star Ellie Taylor, Kaden Kearney, Amir Bageria (“Degrassi: The Next Class” “Grand Army”), and EaeMya ThynGi (“Motherland: Fort Salem,” “Bad Seed 2”).The half-hour series follows an unexpected intergenerational friendship between Sachin (Penn), a recently out man in his 40s, and Clay (Kearney), a 17-year-old trans teen, as Sachin and his ex-wife (Taylor) and children (Bageria and ThynGi) attempt to find their new normal.Tolan will write, direct, and executive produce the “Belated” pilot. Nick Alford of Cloudland will also executive produce. FX Productions is the studio. Variety exclusively reported the pilot had been set up at the basic cabler back in October 2021.

Fox is saying goodbye to The Moodys.

Michael J Fox and Denis Leary are old friends who worked together on FX’s Rescue Me, which Fox has called one of his favorite roles of his career.

Michael J. Fox was presented with the ATX Television Festival’s Award in Television eXcellence during a virtual ceremony on Wednesday.

EXCLUSIVE: Fox is developing an untitled single-camera comedy written by and starring The Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood, Jr. He will executive produce the project with fellow actor-comedian Denis Leary as well as Jack Leary via the father-son duo’s Amoeba production banner. Fox Entertainment is the studio.
