We finally have an update on Gerard Butler‘s Greenland sequel!

K.J. Yossman Gerard Butler‘s long-awaited “Greenland” sequel is finally set to go into production in April, Variety can confirm. The disaster film, titled “Greenland: Migration,” will see Butler reunite with director Ric Roman Waugh and “Greenland” writer Chris Sparling.

Altitude has boarded sales on the Village Roadshow Pictures thriller The Prize, starring Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) and Haley Bennett (Till). The London-based company will present the project to buyers at AFM this week, with additional support and review from Village Roadshow Pictures’ international sales team.

EXCLUSIVE:  One of the few titles up for sale at TIFF this year was Phillip Noyce’s thriller Lakewood starring Naomi Watts, and Vertical Entertainment and Roadside Attractions have landed North American rights to the the female-driven thriller.

I’m not entirely convinced everything needs to be a movie. In this case, I don’t know that there is any way to make a film about the journey of a parent as they hear their child’s school has an active shooter without it feeling exploitative of our nation’s current epidemic of violence.

Gerard Butler is returning to Greenland. The Scottish actor is set to reprise his role as John Garrity in Greenland: Migration, a sequel to action thriller Greenland. The core filmmaking team will return with director Ric Roman Waugh headlining from a script by Greenland writer Chris Sparling. Butler’s co-star Morena Baccarin will also reprise her role as Allison Garrity. 

A sequel to the 2020 disaster film “Greenland” starring Gerard Butler is in the works, with both Butler and Morena Baccarin set to return for the feature. Ric Roman Waugh, who directed the first film that was released last year during the pandemic but still made $52.3 million internationally at the box office, will also return and will direct a script by “Greenland” writer Chris Sparling.
