Pet Shop Boys Claim Drake Didn’t Clear ‘West End Girls’ Interpolation for New Album

Thania Garcia British synth-pop group the Pet Shop Boys are the latest to call out Drake for allegedly not getting permission to use their lyrics in his newly-dropped “For All the Dogs” record. PSB issued a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday afternoon. In it, they claim Drake did not credit the group for having used the infamous chorus line from their 1984 single “West End Girls” on “All the Parties,” which also features verses from Chief Kief.

Sleaford Mods have shared their cover of Pet Shop Boys’ ‘West End Girls’, with all profits for the new track set to go towards homeless charity Shelter.The Nottingham duo received the blessing of Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe to release the track – who also decided to remix the cover for an additional new version that will feature on the limited edition single.Sleaford Mods recorded their take of the 1986 classic between tours for their latest album ‘UK GRIM‘.The song – which is accompanied by a music video directed by Ewen Spencer – is available to stream now, ahead of a physical release that will be available to purchase during Sleaford Mods’ current tour and in shops from December 15.Check out the track below.A limited edition, seven-inch vinyl will be sold at the merchandise stand on the duo’s upcoming UK tour dates. Pet Shop Boys‘ Neil Tennant wrote and sent to the late Janice Long in the ’80s has been discovered at a record shop in Altrincham, Trafford.As BBC News reports, the frontman thanked the Radio 1 DJ for playing the synth-pop duo’s debut single ‘West End Girls’ in the note, which was found in a 12-inch vinyl edition of the track.The letter is dated “12 April, 1984” – three days after the song was released.Tennant, who worked as a journalist at Smash Hits at the time, provided some information on how he and bandmate Chris Lowe had recorded ‘West End Girls’ with producer Bobby Orlando after meeting him in New York.“We’ve now recorded over half an album and are due to go back to New York quite soon to finish it,” he continued in the unearthed letter.“Anyway, hope you like the 12″ I’ve enclosed and thanks for playing ‘West End Girls’ on Thursday.
