Nelly has been cast as the late Chuck Berry in the forthcoming Buddy Holly biopic.Clear Lake, which is being directed by Bruce Beresford from a screenplay written by Patrick Shanahan, has been authorised by the Buddy Holly estate through BMG, which manages the Holly estate and controls the US publishing rights to his catalogue.As Variety reports, Nelly will take on the role of rock’n’roll pioneer Berry, who died in 2017, in Clear Lake.

King Charles is understood to have been "on the phone to Barry Humphries shortly before he died" at 89. The Australian comedian, who is best known for bringing the drag character Dame Edna to life, passed away on Saturday at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital, after complications from a hip replacement.

Barry Humphries, known for his onstage and TV drag persona Edna Everage and for his character Sir Les Patterson, has died. He was 89. The BBC reported that Humphries had been in hospital in Sydney, Australia and had been suffering from complications following surgery in March. “A great wit, satirist, writer and an absolute one-of-kind, he was both gifted and a gift,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said following the news of Humphries’ death. For his one-person show “Dame Edna: The Royal Tour,” which had a run on Broadway, Humphries received a Special Tony Award for a live theatrical presentation in 2000, and in 2014 “Barry Humphries’ Farewell Tour — Eat, Pray, Laugh!” was nominated for an Olivier Award.

Driving Miss Daisy director Bruce Beresford has found his Buddy Holly for Clear Lake, an upcoming biopic about the rock 'n' roll icon. Ruairi O’Connor, who stars as a young King Henry VIII in Starz's miniseries The Spanish Princess, has been cast as Holly in the BMG-backed music biopic produced by Rick French of Prix Productions and Stuart Benjamin of Stuart Benjamin Productions.
