Unified Superintendent Austin Beutner, and has garnered support from scores of Hollywood executives and entertainers, including Katy Perry, Issa Rae, John Lithgow and Jeff Bridges.

In what is being described as an effort to “drive transformational change across the entertainment industry for students from underserved communities,” a coalition of industry leaders spearheaded by George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Don Cheadle, Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling, Nicole Avant, Eva Longoria, Working Title Films founders Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner and Creative Artists Agency Co-Chairman Bryan Lourd are teaming with Los Angeles Unified Superintendent Austin Beutner to found the Roybal

LAUSD chairman Austin Beutner at a Monday briefing confirmed plans for a mid-April opening for preschool and elementary school students and targeted the end of April for secondary schools.

Austin Beutner, the superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, said Monday that students will have to receive the inoculation once it is available before heading back into the classroom, according to a report.   The Los Angeles Times reported that Beutner compared the move to how schools already require vaccinations for measles and mumps.

The Los Angeles Unified School District said Monday that schools will remain closed through at least May 1 due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Superintendent Austin Beutner sent an email to parents early Monday morning saying that additional updates will be sent "well before May 1st on what will come next." "This past week marks the start of a new chapter for all who are part of our school community," Beutner wrote in his email announcing the extended closure.
